Sounds like the Buckeyes couldn't get the job done themselves and needed the officials to bail them out once again. It's been happening for years there.

Great job Buckeyes!!! Sounds like it was a heck of a game! Way to come back in the second half.
Good luck to Meigs the rest of the season!

It was Meigs's game to lose and they did.
1. Meigs kick off coverage was bad. Sad when its better to kick the ball out of bounds and give it up on the 35 rather than trying to stop a return.
2. It was a shame Meigs could not get a TD when NY had a bad punt snap and Meigs took over on the 1 or 2 yd line.
3. Shame Meigs does not have a dependable place kicker for point afters.
4. Shame Meigs could not convert on the 2 pt. tries.
5. Shame the refs. made some of the calls the did. Both ways.
But this is why we play. You just never know which way the ball will bounce.

So....
NY is called for 10+ penalties, including holding and block in the back calls.
NY has a TD called back for holding.
And yet, somehow the refs were hosing Meigs in favor of NY.....
You guys must think these refs are geniuses, as the just orchestrated a conspiracy of massive proportions. They were able to penalize NY for an enormous amount of total of yards, and were somehow able to still screw over Meigs.

Re: WK 5 (4-0, 1-0) Meigs @ (3-1, 1-0) Nelsonville-York
The Buckeyes get the win!
#1. Because of Dereck Arnold! 3 tds , 2 on Kickoff returns, 150+ yards rushing.
#2. Because they went away from the 4-4 in the second half. ( they get no pressure on the QB when they are in it. )
#3. Because they have more heart than most teams.
#4. Because coach Boston always seems to fire the team up at halftime.
#5. Because the Bucks seem to be in better shape (sucking less wind) than the other team.
And inspite of.
#1. The refs. Not as bad as at Wellston. But that was not pass interference in the second half.
#2. Missing two senior Captains.
#3. Predictable play calling.( This is what I have heard from the coach's in the stands for years.)

Well said

I have been around the TVC for a lot of years, and I have felt like I have been HOSED in every stadium in the league

I guess it is always easier to say that you lost because of the refs instead of admiting that you were either outplayed, or that the other team made the big plays when you didn't.

Re: WK 5 (4-0, 1-0) Meigs @ (3-1, 1-0) Nelsonville-York
NY was down 22-8 with just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter..... Meigs decided to kick to Arnold and he burned them for the second time on the night............ That got the team back into it and the rest is history.
Arnold changed the outcome of this game, don't diminish his performance by crediting the officials..... They weren't very good, but they weren't very good BOTH ways
The difference was #26 and the rest of the Buckeyes!

I agree with 4horsemen!!!
Another thing to consider here.......strength of schedule. Both NY and Meigs are now 4-1. Yet, there is a huge difference in where they are in terms of playoff points.
NY - third - D5, R19
7.7000 average. 17 first level, 43 second level points!
Meigs - ninth - D4, R15
5.6707 average. 18 first level, 20.5 second level points.
Second level points - the success the opponents you defeat have had on the field - show that NY has over twice as many second level points as Meigs. Perhaps if Meigs had played a stronger non-league schedule that could have better prepared them for NY, the outcome of this game would have been different.
Show me a Meigs team who can win a big game, and I will show you a Meigs team who will make the playoffs.

Sometimes timing of penalties can be bigger factor then number of them. That being said officials did not cost Meigs this game, simply put Meigs cost Meigs this game.as I stated earlier this week Meigs can not win big games and special teams would cost cause them to loose. Meigs will not win a big game until a another super athlet such as Justin Roush comes along who can carry the team DESPITE coaching decisions that are questionable at best.

when i was talkin about gettin screwed...i didnt mean calls through out the game. They were both pretty much called even. Im talkin about the last play that was called a pic....i dont no how he coulda came backed down in the endzone....And yes that Arnold kid is a very good ball player. but i dont think he woulda have return those two kicks if most of meigs starters were on special teams...this is the chance for the starters to get a quick rest.
Re: WK 5 (4-0, 1-0) Meigs @ (3-1, 1-0) Nelsonville-York
as lou holts is fond of saying " you have to be sound in the kicking game". meigs let a golden oppertunity slip away. we had the bucks beat but could not close. meigs players, most of you know me and you know i am on your side. let this game go and learn from it. do not let up until the final whistle. mason i am sure you could have made that winning field goal. you have the heart of a champ. do not allow what the ny posters are saying get to you. they did not beat you, the ref's did not beat you, you just let one slip away. sucks don't it. hate the feeling right? now kick some the rest of the year!

I'm not sure what you are refering to with the NY posters and the kicker from Meigs, but I for one had nothing but respect for the kid. He crushed the field goal that he kicked in the 3rd quarter.
I felt like one more 1st down and he would be in range to kick the game winner. I was thrilled that Dickerson made the spectacular interception in the endzone to end it, because it would keep the Meigs kicker OFF the field.
This was a game of BIG plays......
Kickoff returns for touchdowns, multiple scoring plays of 40+ yards, scoring on 4th down.............
In the end Meigs did not get to try what could have been a game winning field goal because NY made the final big play of the game............. Hats off to all the players from both teams for providing a VERY entertaining game
