Re: Week 1 - Ironton @ Wheelersburg
Ironton may have won the ballgame, but it was in no way the blowout that you or the other blowhard were predicting. The Pirates played right with the Tigers all night long and if not for some turnovers and penalties they could have possibly won the game. Just like in most of the Ironton/Burg match ups, it came right down the wire before the games was decided. I am very proud if the boys from the Burg tonight. I'm sure they had seen all the crap on here about Ironton was going to roll all over them and they held their own for 4 quarters against a much bigger opponent.
Congrats to the Tigers on the win and good luck to both schools the rest of the season.
I believe the Burg proved they are going to be a team to reckon with this year.

Same here, I didn't predict a blowout and knew it would be a good game.

Re: Week 1 - Ironton @ Wheelersburg
A friend of mine said that Burg dominated most of the game and dominated the line of scrimmage and just turned the ball over at critical times in the game. He said that Shank and several other backs looked great and that Burg looked LOADED at all positions. I knew Burg had a great line coming back this year, I didnt see them being this good.
Re: Week 1 - Ironton @ Wheelersburg
if Ironton is loaded as they were reported to be then Wheelersburg must be a BEAR !!!.

The Tigers cannot survive without someone to kick extra points. I have never seen the Tigers with no one. Touchdowns must be 7 points, not 6!

If this is how the season is gonna be all season. This is gonna be a great season for both teams. I don't think I've ever seen that many huge hits in one game. So many times I'd turn and say, man he got clobbered!
Re: Week 1 - Ironton @ Wheelersburg
if you haven't seen them start the season without a decent kicker on more than one occasion then you haven't been around many seasons.IronSuperman wrote:The Tigers cannot survive without someone to kick extra points. I have never seen the Tigers with no one. Touchdowns must be 7 points, not 6!
difficult to understand with such a brilliant coach.

Yeah when I said Ironton would win with 24 points I even specified that it would be with 4 TD's and NO EXTRA POINTS!
They don't kick! Now I know I was wrong with my 24-14 prediction, but hey, It was halfway there!
Great to have football season here!
Go to the game, rooting, checking scores, getting home to chat about what just happened!
AWESOME!! Regardless of outcomes!

Re: Week 1 - Ironton @ Wheelersburg
Burg gets the opening KO to the 50, is running the ball down Ironton's throat and then they had to get cute. I just don't understand that. Why do coaches go away from something that the other team can't stop. Other than that, pretty good gameplan by the Burg.
Take away those two long runs by the Tigers and this is a 7-0 Burg win. Ironton did not impress me on being able to move the ball down the field on a sustained drive. Don't think they had a series over 8 plays all night.
Great game by both teams. Final was in doubt right up until about 3:00 left in the game. Itown had to be thinking deja vu from 2 years ago. Big hitting by both teams. Burg proved they can play with them and will be a tough win for anyone this year.
Good luck to both teams the rest of the season. Burg has a tough game next week as they visit a strong Oak Hill team

Congrats to ironton on the win. Man, u guys are huge up front!! Geez. Where do they keep getting these guys? Anyway, way to many penalties for burg, none bigger than that 4th and 3 near the end. I think Both teams are great on the oline. Very crisp blocking and both teams backs run VERY HARD! I was impressed by Burg. they lost so much from last year but I am thinking thats the last game they will lose all season. Two big TD runs by ironton are all because u have to start crowding the line to get them stopped. A few missed tackles and boom. Always has been that way. We wont see another running game like that this season so buck up pirates! U played well!! Good luck to the Fighting Tigers, but as always, GO BURG!!

Hey Burg fans with the score that close do you think we could get those Tiger fans to eat just a little bit of Crow, maybe a leg or a wing or something
sounds like it was a good game and both teams will have a good year. Good Luck to both.
