Styles come in to play somewhat but I have always felt if you think you have the better team then you want good weather.

Fbnut: I believe it was you that said at the beginning of the year that W'burg is going to have to prove to you they can move the ball when the weather gets nasty later in the year due to the shotgun zone read spread style of offense they run. That's the question I have as well.

For tomorrow it looks like a nice night of football for the fans, but I'm not so sure how the field is going to hold up.

weather can always be a factor, but unless it's a downpour, I dont see a muddy field affecting Wheelersburgs passing game too much. The refs always do a good job of keeping the ball clean, but who knows....could get some Falcon cookin'

This game is always fairly close and ultra competitive due to the nature of the rivalry. I like Burg, but closer than the experts think.

Minfords D line must issue the pressure on Miller with the linebackers being patient when he starts to cut back into the middle of the field.

Because I want to check out Valley next 2 opponents and I think Valley/NW is going to be an even bigger blowout...I dont think that Oak Hill is even going to make the playoffs (just my opinion of course)

You don't think Oak Hill will get in? I'll take that bet, I think they're in at the # 6 spot. Oak Hill will beat Ironton this year.

If anyone is interested there's a HS football game on Fox Sports Ohio: Cincy Wyoming (D4 Region 14) vs Cincy Mariemont (D5 Reg18) playing at 11pm tonight and replayed at 8am tomorrow. The live game is just finishing up now.

Wyoming is currently ranked 12 fighting to get in and Cincy Mariemont is ranked 4 currently with a home game playoff seed. Wyoming is in the same region as Minford, and W'burg could see Mariemont in a state semis, if both teams get that far.

While losing, Ironton has made it through 2 of their 3 horrible games without getting totally destroyed and hurt. If Ironton can make it through tonight, they could possibly be in a position to win their last 2, but we will know more about that tonight. Regardless of whether they beat Ironton, shouldn't Oak Hill still make it in?

Again this will be the first time they play on a WET and MUDDY field and our field anyway doesn't drain soo well it will be very hard to stick your foot in the ground to cut for pass routes and it won't be hot enough for the field to harden up or for the water to evaporate at all. The conditions favor the falcons hugely as of now.
You're telling me that minford is faster in mud? Is there no grass on the field? Wet field conditions hurt both teams equally.
No I'm saying Minfords straight ahead game is better so the mud doesn't really affect us as much. But it affects burg more because the rely on timing and quick moves to break plays and that is slightly more difficult in mud.

I tend to agree with falcon here. I do think sloppier conditions favor Minford. I'll take burg by three scores.

Coach Daniels has a "Forrest Gump" like affection for his football field. Field conditions will not be a factor. The ground was in need of rain it just soaked the rain right up.

#1 reason Burg posters think they will win = we are better

#1 reason Minford posters think they will win = our field sucks

hmmmmmm?

@4thnGoal: Oak Hill is in control of their own destiny. With a loss to Ironton they'll be anywhere from 7-8, if getting in at all. That region is much tighter than D5 region 17 (Ironton n W'burg) to where teams #6 and on down are not very good.

Thanks Vlad.

SPAM...I think the field conditions may be a slight factor, but now that the sun is out, the 8 hours of sunshine before kickoff will definately help.

if ironton doesnt get beatup to much physically this week I think I like Ironton at homt next week vs oakhill. just looking at the oaks schedule they really havent played anyone but minford. minford beat them, and they had a very tough game against a small DIV 7 ND.
