49 yards I believe and most of those were on one run late in the game.

The field conditions essentially neutralized the skill players for both sides. The yards they were to gain were going to be gained in the trenches. Well, Alexander picked up 4-5 yards on first down. NY picked up 1-2 yards.

Also, special teams, special teams, special teams....Those two botched punts were the equivalent to turning the ball over twice in your own territory. Meanwhile, Alexander was very solid in their punting game. The only mistake was the roughing the punter on the first drive.

I also wonder how the artificial playing surface effects NY when playing in the mud on the road. The offense looked totally inept, and no one appeared to be a mudder (for the Seinfeld fans).

Though, I have now seen NY in a scrimmage and two games, and I think this team has a soft "belly"...right in the middle.

Wow, I knew the streak had to end one day, but it's still shocking to see Alex beat NY. Congrats on the win. I'm sure back in 1972 when the first game was played between the two schools that no one ever could have imagined it would take 38 years/games for Alex to pick up their first win over NY.

Maybe now that Alex has finally beat NY, this game might start to have a rivalry feel to it. I think its better for the teams and for the TVC in general if the game does feel like a rivalry each year.

I'm also wondering what the record is for most games played against a team before the opposing team picked up their first win? Would the 38th year be anywhere near the state record for that?

Congrats to Alex on the win. And congrats to NY, who has gone above and beyond anyones expectations this season. This team is almost entirely composed of sophomores other than Arnold and they started the year by winning their first six games. The season isn't over yet by any means, but I can't wait to see what these kids do as juniors and seniors over the next two years.

Keep your heads up Buckeyes!! We're still in this, so you've got to put this behind you and work hard to prepare for next week. We'll all be there to support our Buckeyes!

Congrats Spartans. You boys are a good team and work well together. Good luck the rest of the season.

Congratulations Alexander on a great win and making history. Alexander came out playing for the win and wanted it the whole game. They played exceptionally well all four quarters on both sides of the ball.

Keep your heads up Buckeye’s you played hard and must now put this behind you and get ready for Athens next week.

All I can say is WOW! Congrads from an old Spartan to the current Spartans, great job Coach Arno. Nice to see your hard work has finally paid off. Coach Arno a corner has been turned in your program. You have certainly poured your heart and soul into turning things around at Alex. Spartans keep believing in yourselves and your coach, dont ever let people try to play mind games with you again, by now it should be clear to you that the opinions of the experts on here dont amount to much. Let your team be like a family and have the attitude that they are are the only ones that matter.

For all of the Buckeye faithful that basically went on a full out offensive attack after my post, there is more to the kicking game than the extra point.

Looks like I was right on two counts, better kicking game and a strong defensive scheme, especially if what was posted previously about the rushing yards is remotely close...........

Very gracious posts by the Buckeye fans. Very classy. The spartan fans could take a lesson. They even whined in victory on the call in show.

WEAK, WEAK Region!!!!

Fuzzhead...interesting that you call this a weak region. The champion last year (Liberty Union) made it all the way to the state final four and lost to state champion Youngstown Ursuline. The LU Lions are quite possibly better this year than they were last year. Maybe the region as a whole is weak, but when your regional champion goes on to the final four, it makes your statement seem kind of silly.

gecko - According to Gridiron Glory, Alexander held Arnold to 48 yards on the night. In the turnover department, NY threw one interception. No lost fumbles for either team, from what the kids on WOUB reported.

Speaking of Gridiron Glory, does it seem to anyone else like this has become the all MVL and West Virginia show (can the people in Parkersburg even get the show)? Every week they do less and less TVC games. They haven't featured Athens (who is in their backyard and having one of their best year's ever) hardly at all. Athens, Wellston, Vinton Co., Trimble, Meigs, Eastern, Federal Hocking, Logan etc.......all schools very close to OU with many many viewers and NONE of them were on tonight??? Maybe it's time to expand the show to an hour in order to feature more highlights of more games. Or perhaps have 3 shows in three different markets....the Athens/main campus market feature the TVC and SEOAL, the Zanesville branch campus feature the MVL and West Virginia schools, and the Lancaster branch campus feature the MSL (mainly Liberty Union, Fisher Catholic, Fairfield Union, Amanda Clearcreek, Berne Union) and OCC (mainly Lancaster and Pickerington). Just an idea.

NY threw one INT. However, getting a punt blocked deep in your own territory after a bounced snap and mishandling a punt-snap deep in your own territory is essentially turning the ball over twice deep in your own territory.

I believe Alexander had one TD drive, and two TDs with the extremely short field from special teams play. Either way though, when you don't score....

This didn't decide the outcome of the game, but it could have had NY shown any life on offense...... Is it common practice for officials to get the ball in between plays, walk it to the spot, stand and look at the clock for 10-15 seconds, then finally spot the ball and whistle for the playclock to begin? It has always seemed to me that the officials pick up the ball (exchange balls if need be), walk it directly to the spot, then immediately signal to start the playclock. I'm going to watch for that in Ohio Stadium today. Though, is it some high school rule that the official must work 15-20 seconds off the clock before starting the playclock?

Frozenrope9 - It is not just you. Frankly, I made a very pointed, critical comment about this two years ago when Matt Barnes was hosting the show (in my opinion, he was the best host that they've had in the history of the show) and every kid that works on the show got on here and whined about what I said.

An hour show would be great, but $ and the kid's time is the issue. WOUB is facing major funding issues with reductions in state funding, so I've been told that expanding to an hour is not a viable option.

Your point is spot on, though. Very little coverage of Athens county teams, where you have the bulk of OU employees residing, and ALOT of OU students who are alumni of the five Athens county high schools. Last night was the first time this season that I have watched an entire episode of Gridiron Glory, and yes, I was extremely disappointed in the coverage. Seems like they spent as much time in the Zanesville studio as they did in the Athens studio.

The only thing that I liked last night was that they did give some coverage to the Miller/Southern game. First time I can remember them sending anyone to Hemlock to shoot some footage. Those kids from Miller get so little coverage from the print media, it was nice to see them on TV.

IMO, this could be a really great show with the focus on Athens/Meigs/Hocking/Washington/Gallia/Jackson/Vinton/Lawrence county teams. They are trying to be all things to all people with their current format, and in my opinion, this just is not working.
