i kept saying it would be a barnburner. i predicted a little higher score. wheelersburg committed way too many penalties, and ironton's tackling was really poor. game in question till the end. exactly as i thought it would be. how can we not find one person that can kick a pat.we have alot of work to do before next week. but a very hard fought win , in an always tough setting.

The big o-lineman for the Tigers looked good. I believe #76. Decent on the defensive side of the ball but excellent on offense. #33 has a nose for the ball too. Great game to watch. Too bad they all aren't this exciting.

Congratulations to the Tigers on the win. I thought # 33 and # 30 both had nice games for Ironton.

Thought several Burg Players stepped right into several positons and filled the losses from last year graduating class. Boys played well as a team. I think we surprised a few of the Ironton Posters on here- i certainly didnt see a lot of points hung on the burg as some might have thought. So glad the one tiger that took the hard hit on the burg side got up ok, Burg Football will have a good season. ;-) GO BURG

WIRO Collision of the Game was given to Skylar Fields of Ironton for his QB sack at the 2:31 mark of the 4th quarter. If Shears would have had a little more time to let the ball go, he had a receiver running free behind the secondary.

I think as long as Burg keeps Ironton the 1st game of the season they'll be OK. Over the years I've watched them it's always been their weakest Game for some reason, but once they get rolling Look out. I remember we (West) played them in 89 the 1st game and the score I think was about 18 to 6 or something and they went on to win State. then in 90 we shut them out in tank stadium, but they gave us a good spanking in the playoffs. anyway Congrats to Tigers on the win and good luck the rest of the season. Especially Nick Colbertson:I know he had a good game, Great Kid, Great Athlete- from Grandma and Grandpa on the West Side.

Nick is the player that took the big hit on the Burg side of the field.
Shook him up for awhile but he played the rest of the game. These are
the kinds of things you learn when you are a young player. He will be a good
one for the Tigers before his career is over. Didn't do too bad for a Sophmore playing
in his first varsity game.

I was impressed not only with Burg's entire team but also Burg's fans. I-town fans, we need to take a look at how that other side was rocking all evening, even when down 12-0. We need to get up and let our guys hear it and see it! I predicted 34-28 I-town, I didn't figure on so much great defense. Burg is loaded and everyone else on their schedule better prepare. Like many on here have said, this could have easily been 7-0 Burg. We need find a threat in the passing game to open our run up a little bit. I believe the Tigers and Pirates will be fine this year. On to week 2!

Ironton had some great runs. Tres Wilks had one for like 73 yards and Tyler Hagar had a long one too. Brian Warner was tuff and just kept sticking it to them. But I know that this was not a great game for any of them. We will see better runs from all of them in the games to come. I think that this game basically helped them get the bugs and the nerves worked out. I hope that they will feel more comfortable out there next week. We also had some great plays from some of our underclassmen. Great job boys! I think that this game should have buildt alot of confidence for our boys.

if you haven't seen them start the season without a decent kicker on more than one occasion then you haven't been around many seasons.
difficult to understand with such a brilliant coach.
Yeah, well, name the last season that they were so bad at kicking that they didn't even attempt it. I have seen some poor kickers, but don't recall the Tigers with not even an "undecent" extra point attempter (if that's a word) :122249

Warner is an unreal talent on the field. But Brad Spoljeric (sp) is an absolute animal. I mean he is just pure mean. More than once while we were on offense I saw him chasing down a Burg defender down the field that was running away. Shoot, I'm 6'3 and he is HUGE to me. NOt to mention, he is just flat out mean!

That was a shot, both ways. Me and a few friends were on the Ironton side dirctly across from it and we immediately just went OOOOOHHHHH. They both delivered a good shot, but Nick came out with the worst of it.

Our kicker will be back starting Week 2 practice. Coming from the kid himself.
