I think he should leave and come coach the Raiders at RV. We just want somebody to get us to the playoffs!

That would be a couple of good games if you can get a home and home over 2 years. I bet New Martinsville Magnolia would come to Nelsonville. Just remember now, if you travel there, that would be out of your 40 mile comfort zone for being able to win you know.buckeyefan2010 wrote:i say NY schedules magnolia, WV again, they were the state champions in WV this past year in their division, and as we all know WV ball is MUCH easier than OHIO, SOOO, with that being said, state champions in WV, and league champions in OH, good game to me..

What I also find funny is that N-Y had to add "orange" to their school colors years after the old brown and white I guess was determined to be dull & drab (which it was) and now it's the dominant color. I guess they had to do something to brighten that place up. Scarlet & Gray, Blue & Yellow, Brown & White, Orange-Brown & White. You guys will probably set an OHSAA record for all-time school color changes after the consolidation with Trimble in a couple years.

So FANOCRAP, Just how good, or should I say bad, will Groveport Madison be this year?
With your continued support I would say they will be just as successful as they have been in recent years.

Re: Nelsonville-York Football 2011
Well, let's put it this way. Our district for the last few years is getting too many "transient" families moving in and out and it's starting to hurt athletics (especially with us being DI) and academics here big time. The town of Groveport drew up paperwork a couple years ago trying to split the school district which would have created two separate high schools (Groveport and Madison Township) but the state shot that idea down because of tax dollars. That happens in and around cities much more than it does in a stable community such as yours. With that being said me and a few of my buddies coached a lot of jr. leagues (football) in the district for a lot of years and a lot of the kids we coached were on the last playoff team Groveport had three years ago which was the first one they'd had in 20 years and most of them changed the attitude to a winning one over the last 5 years or so along with Coach Brown who came from Cameron, WV a few years back. We also coached Eric Smith (starting safety, NY Jets) and D.J. (Daniel) Cain who later quarterbacked Williamsport Westfall in a couple of playoff years while he was in high school. We've been edged out of the playoffs the last two years by slides in games 9 and 10 and not making excuses, but this OCC is flat out a bear to win in, unlike the TVC. The biggest difference in and around C-Bus is that the schools that have a lot of money (not G-M) can pretty much do what they want. Hilliard Davidson's coach Brian White (2 state championships) was here at Groveport after he left DeSales as an assistant but we couldn't afford to keep him. Steve Hale (playoff appearances) is at Olentangy and we couldn't afford to keep him years ago. We do as well as we can with the hand dealt against us. I think we do a pretty good job when you look at everything but socio-economics is what holds our district back. Flat out, we can't keep up with the Dublin's, Hilliard's and Upper Arlington's of the world but we give it a hell of a try. We've had some very good individual athletes over the years (Calvin Booth-nba, Eric Smith-nfl, LeVeon Bell-current Michigan St. running back, Lilia Osterloh-pro tennis) and a lot of other college athletes at different levels but in the OCC it takes a heck of a team to win consistently at the DI level with a lack of resources.BIGHITSINC wrote:So FANOCRAP, Just how good, or should I say bad, will Groveport Madison be this year?

Oh, now I understand, It's money that wins football games up north
As I understant it, it's pride that wins football games at NY. They have a great booster program that has put an astounding amount of time and $$ into there facilities and are really behind their student atheletes. As far as I know they still don't have pay to play, do GMs' atheletes have pay to play? You get on this forum and try to belittle the programs of Southstern Ohio many times a year and I for one am sick and tired of it!!!!!!!!!!
You want to talk socio-economics?? many of them hillbillies can shoot, gut, cut and wrap wild meat before you can get in your car and get to the nearest 7eleven.
They may not have money but the people of Southeastern Ohio have P R I D E you could take a lesson in that!!!!!

Re: Nelsonville-York Football 2011
I'm not going to belittle anyone from SEO as I was born and raised there (Meigs / Mason Co. WV),will probably retire down there and I too am a hilljack, hillbilly, river rat or whatever you want to call me. I shoot, hunt / fish etc., sold my guns when I moved up here and probably should have kept them the way city life is getting. As far as the 7-11's, they just closed the one closest to me. Just about every school up here (OCC, MSL, etc.) have pay to play ranging from very little dollars to up in the hundreds per sport depending on district. The booster clubs up here are very good along with the fan bases which are just as passionate as the small town teams are from down home. Some of the poorest districts here have excellent facilities mostly because of the booster club's work and it's definitely not because of the the school districts because up here all they want to do is add more taxes or pass a levy every year. A lot of it is money, resources and connections that wins games. When you have parochial/catholic schools like Xavier, St. Ed, DeSales, Mooney, Watterson etc. and the public schools like Upper Arlington (record for state champs in all sports) the above stated reasons play a very big role. Again, I don't belittle the programs of SEO. I've lived, worked and attended sporting events in this city long enough to learn most of the differences between the suburban/city and rural/town districts. Desire, heart, pride etc. can only go so far against the establishment to create an equal and level playing field, that's all I'm saying. Hey, my district isn't one of the money districts up here, contrary to what you're stating in your last sentence above. We are probably the 3 or 4th poorest district in the county. I would love to see all the Ohio state champions come from SEO but I know it won't happen because of an unlevel playing field, that's reality. I'm out !!!!!BIGHITSINC wrote:FANOSPORTS wrote:Well, let's put it this way. FANOSPORTS, How can you say you don't belittle SEO schools? You knock the schools in the TVC every chance you get. You always have rude remarks out Nelsonville-York.
I'll be the first to admit I stick my foot in my mouth every now and then, but I don't talk the trash you do about Southeastern Ohio Schools on here.

Alright you guys, don't take it so serious. I am an old school SEOAL guy and have my beliefs that it's still overall (as long as it lasts) the best league in SEO in sports and when it and the TVC meet up in games whether it be regular season or tournaments, this has still proven to be true after all these years. In the TVC, I like to rag on N-Y because of their football prowess in the conference because my Meigs Marauders can very rarely beat them anymore (arghhh, it's all in fun). You guys have great football and wrestling programs and I acknowledge that and wish you the best in the future. If you take offense to some of my predictions and analogies on here for games in any sport for any schools and in any SEO league you'll usually find out I'm not a homer and go with my gut instincts which usually prove correct even though you or I may not want to here that. Lastly, prove me wrong about the TVC as a whole and I'll eat crow with the best of them. So call me turd, fanocrap or whatever, I'm not into the name calling bit. I've been there when Ironton, Wheelersburg, South Webster, Oak Hill and Chillicothe won state titles in football and basketball and was just as happy as their fans were. I've been there when South Webster, Belpre, Wheelersburg, Eastern (Meigs), Ironton, Ross Southeastern, Racine Southern and North Adams lost some heartbreaking games in the state basketball tournament and experienced as much disappointment as their fans did. I've been there when Eastern (Meigs) and Southern couldn't get past Newark Catholic a few times in the baseball regionals and was there a couple of times when Trimble couldn't get past the regionals in football. I went to Huntington Park last year when Wheelersburg almost got it done in baseball and to the softball regional to see if Gallipolis could get it done. If I didn't mention your school in a big games somewhere over the years, I might have been there also but the above games are what popped into my head first. I wish all SEO teams the best and I'll be at a ballgame soon.NYBUX wrote:FANOCRAP does belittle the programs of SEO on a regular basis.

Ah, not so fast my friend. The SEOAL has 5 wrestlers going in DI and DII. Logan (DI) 1, Marietta (DII) 1, Warren (DII) 1, Gallipolis (DII) 2Orange and Brown wrote:Fanocrap, The TVC just sent 11 wrestlers to the State Tourny!

(Question: have any of the 11 faced any of the 5 this year, if they're in the same weight class of course ?)
Note: Athens won the TVC league team title and qualified only two wrestlers for state in DII. That shows a big difference there between DII and DIII as far as state qualifying goes IMO.
