Undisciplined sideline? Because an INCOMPLETE pass happened with the clock reading 0:00 and kids celebrated what had just happened? What a reach, but I forgot it’s Portsmouth, so of course anything they do is made out to be negative, until it’s the EXACT situation with a different team, then it’s alot of deferring and excuses why it happened. Shameful situation, but to say a teenager celebrating a well executed game plan and deserving victory is undisciplined is ludicrous. Oh and a whistle was blown, but the back ref never signaled incomplete pass and #57 said he was confused cause he heard the whistle, that’s why he was running off the field. Everyone knows exactly what happened and it’s heartbreaking to those young men for sure.Rza1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:50 pmWrestlingFootball wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:21 pmIt wasn’t a warning it was their second sideline infraction
Yea it was a wild call... but the whistle wasn't blown on the shovel pass... and it was the second "sideline infraction " not a warning as you keep saying. There were some calls for sure during the game... but they were bad for both teams.. unfortunate? Maybe... undisciplined sideline? 100%.

And no one brings up the fact that all the Portsmouth defenders had to do (there were three of them) was knock the ball down on the Hail Mary instead of letting the WR go up over them and bring it down. Also on the winning 2 pt conversion, the DB was giving the slot receiver at least a 7 yd cushion from the 1 yard line. The slant was wide open and Fairland hit it. The DB should have known better than to give a huge cushion like that at the goal line, you gotta press.

Re: 5-1 Portsmouth vs 6-0 Fairland
I’ve seen a view where it looks like he actually traps the ball on the game winning 2pt catch. Not a great view but I’m not 100% sure either way. That said it’s never as easy to just knock a ball down as it sounds. Look at what the Ravens did yesterday to the Bengals. Lamar runs around and find Likely in the end zone with 3 defenders near him but none in the correct position to make the play.trips_Y_slot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 1:01 pm And no one brings up the fact that all the Portsmouth defenders had to do (there were three of them) was knock the ball down on the Hail Mary instead of letting the WR go up over them and bring it down. Re: 5-1 Portsmouth vs 6-0 Fairland
The fact that Smith was able to get in between the two defenders and come down with the ball is insane. He stemmed that route perfectly and went in between the two defenders and made a play. Agree that moment everyone on Portsmouth should have been screaming knock it down.trips_Y_slot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 1:01 pm And no one brings up the fact that all the Portsmouth defenders had to do (there were three of them) was knock the ball down on the Hail Mary instead of letting the WR go up over them and bring it down. Portsmouth defended the original two point call perfectly they blew that play up and made it look like a train wreck in action. The attempted shovel pass was blown up heads up play by Wall to pick it up and attempt to do something.Obviously should have been blown dead as an incomplete pass but without the refs blowing it dead you keep playing. I’ve said I think the way the play turned into chaos helps Fairland here as the refs are watching the play instead of making the correct call on the incomplete pass but heads up by the Fairland players to keep playing.
Then the replay of the down Fairland on the 1.5 yard line Hayden lines up in the slot with a corner playing 5 yards off the ball who lets him get inside leverage on the slant it’s crazy to think that in that situation you aren’t pressing and getting hands on the receiver absolutely agree. The players for Fairland executed some big time individual performances there to win this game. Smith and Hayden on passes from Wall just make plays to win the game.
Congrats to the Fairland players and your heart breaks for the Portsmouth players to come up on the short end of that great game
Re: 5-1 Portsmouth vs 6-0 Fairland
Bottom line e is Fairland should've never had the 2nd opportunity at the 2 point conversion. The 1st attempt was an incomplete pass. When the ball fell to the ground the game was over at that point. So the sideline penalty should've never been thrown. And besides that, a sideline penalty is not a replay down penalty....anyone can go to the ohio high school rules and look it up. Not only that when there is no time on the clock that penalty is not penalized....so yes Fairland got the win but it's a tainted win!! I know Fairland dont care as long as they can say they won. And I'm sure they are happy Ironton isn't in the OVC this year...one last thing, I've never heard the language Fairland fans was using in that game. I heard the drop the f-bomb multiple times, calling the refs B......!!!!! Embarrassing. But that's Fairland, classy as always

warning cannot be issued after time has
expired because "the focus of sideline
management is to ensure a safe and
organized environment during the active
phases of the game" (0hio High School
Athletic Association, n.d.). This is
particularly relevant during the last play
of the game. If a team is penalized for
sideline conduct during the final play, any
potential warnings would need to be
addressed before the expiration of the
game clock. Once time has run out, the
play is considered dead, and officials
cannot issue warnings or penalties
related to sideline behavior.

So the side judge called it and he was 100% correct in the call. A kid came on to the field on a live play. He doesn’t determine any play outside of his area. He’s not going to determine whether the ball should have been dead or not.
Having said that, a seasoned official may have turned to the kid quickly and said get off the field. I think the kid would have. He was just celebrating. The biggest gaffe was allowing the play to continue from the ref and ump. I also think the referee crew could have picked up the flag after a conference to discuss the play and say that the penalty did not count because the play was actually dead after the forward pass.
The fumble was bang-bang. I can see it being missed. That’s why college and nfl plays get reversed after replay.
Maybe you can share this small video showingvthis kid on the field,a long with the time on the clock maybe? Or at least showing some how he is on the field when he's not supposed to be?
I was sitting right behind our bench and didn't see it happen but to be fair,I was watching the line of scrimmage and the play as it was developing wassu down on the five yard line , you know like the young ref should have been doing.
How you watch the play and look back at the sidelines where the team is at the same time? If he seen a kid come on the field before the Bal hit the ground,he wasn't watching the play therefore not doing his job.
It's over , Portsmouth will move on knowing this game was stolen from them ,the game was over and every ref out there knew it and called it except the one that came running to make a call he should not have been allowed to make.
Shame on white hat to for not doing his job to when they huddle up to talk about it
Congratulations to fairyland on the win and playing a great game because the fairlamd fans or team did nothing wrong, this was one of the best games I've seen this year.

Re: 5-1 Portsmouth vs 6-0 Fairland
The point is there will always be fumbles and pass interferences because it’s the officials opinion of what occurred but the 2-point conversion call was an absolute disaster ( doesn’t matter how many sideline warnings Portsmouth had or has) it was an in timed down and it was a PASS that hit the ground GAME OVER , and for those that said it was a fumble and the whistle never blew fine ok Fairland recovered it on the ground outta the end zone GAME OVER Portsmouth wins, just heard yesterday that 2- of the officials from that game has turned there selves into the OHSAA for allowing the wrong call to be made either way that crew needs there license suspended or pulled for a couple games cause there is always consequences for a person or persons actions and nobody is above the law
Re: 5-1 Portsmouth vs 6-0 Fairland
It's always say sideline warning with it man, then they'll say 5 yard penalty or not but it's always repeated sideline warning. It's not a replay of down point blank. I mean heck we're got all these old videos of bands and everyone running on the field and yet the play continues have you NEVER thought about how that was let to happen?? You've got it in your head it was a defensive penalty there wasn't a single player on the defense that was called for a penalty, you can argue all you want but I've talked to multiple head officials and the play was done incorrectly.WrestlingFootball wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:21 pmIt wasn’t a warning it was their second sideline infractiongreygoose wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:08 amSideline warning isn't a replay of a down, it wasn't a defensive penalty it was a sideline warning.WrestlingFootball wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 5:35 pm
It wasn’t a warning. The first one they had was a warning. This was their second one. The game can not end on a defensive penalty.

Still can’t get past it.. sitting here wondering where Blanton and his crew of Skaggs, Roach etc are working tonight. Wondering if they have discussed last week’s game as a crew, and determined how they COULD and SHOULD have handled it better.. Wondering what will be going through their minds once they hit the field.. Wondering if there’s a shred of guilt for completely TANKING the end of a great game.. Yep it’s gonna be a LONG time before I can let this one go !!

Although I’ve moved past this cheating scandal & onto Rock Hill, why do you care so much to even comment? You don’t have to stick your nose into it. Read it or don’t and pass your dumb ass along. As far as your comment, I’d say there will be complaining anytime anyone is blatantly cheated and it involves the playoffs.Ohio1979 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 1:12 pmWill you be whining this much after week 10? Isnt this cite made for sticking your nose into stuff I think the ref made the wrong call, but you guys are acting like these refs rolled into portsmouth determined to make Fairland win the game. I think you guys tell yourself this just to keep your feelings from being hurt. But Continue to whine and complain, maybe OHSAA will reverse the call and give portsmouth the gameBuckeyeBlood wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 1:30 pmAlthough I’ve moved past this cheating scandal & onto Rock Hill, why do you care so much to even comment?
