This is a brand new facility that just opened in Texas. It is a 7000 seat facility which is just about 1000 seats more then our new proposed football stadium. It cost 12 million dollars to build. This information is form http://www.mineralwellsindex.com/local/local_story_255112209.html

This 12 million is for a football stadium alone!!!!! Yet some how we are going to build football, baseball, softball, tennis facilites, and renovate the old gym, on only 10 million, not to mention the cost of buying and demolition of property.

Ozzie I to have heard that it will be turf, which means grass cutting would be reduced but expence to take care of the surface would not. Here is some interesting information on field turfs maintance cost.http://www.athleticturf.net/athleticturf/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=162975

I was told but don't know, isn't Valley already on thier 2nd turf?

That's one hell of a press box on that thing. Portsmouth could probably cut a million dollars off that stadium by just getting a "great" press box instead of a super one.

I believe, without seeing any figures, that Logan's whole stadium is going to cost between 5-6 million, maybe less than that. Jackson's was done for 4-5 million. With inflation, Jackson's would have cost a little more today.

The rest of the facilities won't need nearly the resources football will. I think Portsmouth could get baseball/softball/football for 10 million

WOW!

What would have been the cost to renovate Old Spartan Stadium verses the price tag for the New Sports Field?

Just curious?

Probably more then it would be worth the trouble. Hopefully Shawnee State can take her over and start a football program.

I guess if you had to play on the Tartan Turf and send your children to trailers to go to school it would make you envious??? Just heard the other day that East couldn't afford to buy MORE TRAILERS from Wheelersburg...I wonder how financially stable they are right now????

You can take "someone from East" comment and spin however you want...fact is he answered not only trojandaves question but it was also Trojan_FB_Alum who brought up money issues in a post above. And if the numbers are correct that was posted about them being 2 mil. in dept here in two years the question of where will the money come from is a valid question. Envious no...I can tell you now the people of Sciotoville are not envious of the new stadium being built, we are thrilled to play at Allard Park the Home of the Tartans in which is slowly being worked on and revamped with a new wall, bleachers, more than likely soon to be new field house, bathrooms, and concession.

Trust me East has the money and budget to get more trailors if need for the school, whether it be from Wheelersburg or whom ever.

I don't know the breakdown of the PCSD operating budget, but I would think that $10,000 is actually small considering of the overall cost of running the entire school district.

With no soccer program and no wrestling program, the Portsmouth High School football program doesn't have to fund these sports, so the money that is made from football is not spread as thin as it could be. And boys basketball in most years breaks even, and with a good year will make money.

Perhaps the same can be said for the financial operation of the school district. With cutbacks in recent years of certain things, maybe that freed up more money for something like this. I have no facts to support this, just a common sense opinion.

WOW? $10,000 dollars a year :?:

All Portsmouth Football Fans!

I need help getiing the word out about the "Rumble on the River" at Portsmouth High School "Old Gym" on Saturday July12th. If we can get the word out it will help Portsmouth Athletic Dept. and Football Team because they will be getting money from Tickets sold and other things that night. In fact I would like for this to be the biggest event ever in the old gym. Please pass this info along and post any ideas about how I can get the word out! It is on WNXT, WZZZ and other media but I am looking for other outlets. Please let us know!

This is going to happen. All the nay-sayers can bet your bottom dollar on that. Portsmouth High School deserves this people. The city has abused our playing grounds way to long. It's our turn now. Go Trojans!

I never heard anything about Valley being on the second turf. I'm pretty sure they are on the same turf that was installed in 2002.

only thing I remember is Valley had some problems with one of the end zones, but it was due to the way it was put down, and it was being corrected when we played a scrimmage a couple years ago out there.....Valley is my favorite stadium, with Jackson being uop there..I hope ours is just as nice.

If they are going to be in the new stadium next year they better start gettting some dirt moving now. They still must be acquiring property.

I see that the construction fences are getting ready to be put up.........a sure sign that the start of this project is very close to starting.

A downtown football stadium...5,000 seats...field turf.......baseball fields.......tennis courts......basketball courts........I think when it is completed, it could very well be the finest athletic complex in all of SE Ohio.

GO TROJANS!!!
