Since no one bought the naming rights, I always wondered why they didn't call it Bill Sauer II.

Sorry. Didn't go to school in Logan. Just don't have that same sentimental value attached like you guys do.

I knew Bill, and I believe it would be very fitting to rename it "Bill Sauer Field at The Swamp"

I think it is an individual thing. Just let it go for now and see what personality it develops. I'm sure people will coalesce around a nickname (how about that word?). :-D :-D

Looks like "The Chief" and "The Reservation" are popular. Either one would be good IMO. No way it could be named Bill Sauer II. There can only ever be one Bill Sauer Field. BTW, nice fancy word D&C :aaaaa19. I see someone dun got demselves a fine edumacation.

Rumor has it Elvis is going to be there in person as well. Personally, if I lived across from the school I'd charge for parking too. But I'm a capitalist.

I think the school officials have done as good a job as can be expected. We're still going to have more parking for the first game than Jackson has after 3 seasons.

Rain is the great equalizer. (Turf or not).

Bad weather always helps the underdog. I say bring it on.

Oh no let's build an ARK! Maybe the gales can supply some wind to dry the swamp out!

Yes, D&C your are correct. "Ty The Weather Guy", the artist currently known on this board as ChiefCruiser95 says that the skies will be partly cloudy with zero chance of rain as the track of the hurricane will take most of the moisture east of the Appalachians with any precip at all being in extreme southeast Ohio. It may be hot and humid like last year but the Chiefs will be ready. I hear the catfish are bitin off the back of the visitors bleachers, so Gales make sure you bring some bate cause the fishin's good. :aaaaa83 :aaaaa83 :aaaaa83 GO CHIEFS!!

Better bring plenty of mosquito repellant, too. Genius locating that visitors section on the bank of the river. :-D :-D :-D

I like the second one but I still have reservations about it.

How about just plain ole CHIEFTAIN FIELD or CHIEFTAIN STADIUM ??

You got that right. My wife and I thought that we could set up a vendors booth just outside the stadium that sells bait and insect repellent. We'd make a killing I tell you. And to think that the original plans for the visitors bleachers had the back of the bleachers only 5 feet from the river. Can someone say CANNONBALL!!

When I took over for Dick Erb on WLGN back in 1997, I started calling BSF "The Reservation" and Katie Smith Gym the same thing because I didnt like "the Purple Palace!" I remember Roger H thought I may upset some people but I didnt care and I think it kind of stuck. But when I called our OL "Big Uglies" I thought he was going to have a heart attack! "Parents will be mad!!" He said. Not knowing Kieth Jackson was doing the same thing and thats where I got it. I liked the Reservation when I said it then, and I like it now. The location of the field and the new facad of the front of the building looking like a head dress makes it sound legit. The place is great and the facility is top notch. I hope nothing causes problems like fog and bugs but it seems like it could come up. It amazes me how things have changed down there with the new schools, BSF being gone, WLGN no longer doing LOGAN games; but the fans and kids and the community should be very happy on how things are headed for sure, but keep the "Reservation"!! The Swamp is Florida, The Teepee could be for the new gym, and "The Chief" is ok but it doesnt have the relation that the reservation does with the nickname of the school. And yes I am a bit partial!

the reservation has a nice ring to it. or we could re-name the campus "The Reservation" and the football stadium "The Chief".

I think that is a good idea. I just think "The Chief" kind of sounds like "The 'Shoe".
