Re: WK 2 (0-1) Federal Hocking @ (0-1) Athens
Tope won't be as big of loss as you think Locos; he had only rushed for a few yards on numerous carries in the 1st half Vs Gallia ... In the 2nd half, Athens was able to move the ball effectively using Curtis Herron, who ive been told is the strongest player for the 'Dogs (pound for pound). Athens also uses Joe Young to run the ball, he's a 6'1 185-pound wrecking ball that can play tailback, but is naturally a FB ... Once Tope went out, Ryan was forced to get creative and used multiple backs, inside handoffs to splt-ends running in motion, etc...etc.... Personally, I liked what I saw in the 2nd half and it could have been a positive thing not having Tope. Now, im sure their better with Tope, but they had to find out what other players could do and they performed great.

I,ll say this game may be a lot closer that people think.A lot of B/S last week.Doesn't take much to distract 15,16,17 yearolds. With Lantz on the line and Wilder in the backfield they should pound on some people.Coach Green is a quality person and I'll say the FED will be ready to rock this week. FED18-Athens 13

ATHENS -- 34
FED.HOCK --12
Athens will use Herron, to get the long yards on the ground using a melee of other backs including Young, McCollum, and Valentour to pick up the short yards via dives and counters.
Also look fot Athens to open up more Air this week by tossing the pigskin around. I assume Cannon will get the start, but Harris is right there puttin' some pressure on him. If Cannon has a bad 1st Half, look to see Harris getting his chance.
Summers, McCollum, Herron, Glass, Dixon & Germano will be asked to catch the balls if Athens does go aerial...
Last week,
The Athens D made me feel good. They had some huge hits which always gets the blood running in my veins. Herron was huge with 2 picks and almost a 3rd that would have been a pick six...Summers had a couple sacks, Ryder I believe had one as well so the Dogs were movin'. Glass came up huge with a blocked punt that resulted in McCollums TD...
Athens needs to take care of the ball.
That is most important. The turnover last week on the punt return took Mr. Momentum right from Athens and the Dogs never got it back...
Like someone said, "4 quarters!"
If you guys would have play 4 quarters last week, Athens would be (1-0)...

Could be A nice wet one Friday, not sure who that favors, maybe neither team but I still like Athens to pull this game out ... Rain & mud might make it closer though ... How about 12-8 Athens?
Maybe 19-15 ... Either or will do.

Fed Hock has to play better than they did Friday night against Caldwell. Defensively, there needs to be alot of improvement. But this group of young men is all heart. Rooting for the Lancers to win! Good luck!

If they are all heart, I certainly did not see it last week. Hopefully, there is a big wake-up call and they show up and play with passion this week. If they do, I like their chances.
The Lancers need to show up with an attitude and wanting to knock the crap out of the Bulldogs. If they don't, it is gonna be a long night...........

hey fellas i am a lancer at heart and i'd love to see em pull out a win and go for the .500 mark on the season but im not sure they have the defense its gonna take to beat a "go getter" team like athens. even without tope. i just hope they will play better than they did friday against caldwell. but good luck boys i will be rooting for you!
Re: WK 2 (0-1) Federal Hocking @ (0-1) Athens
The Bulldogs big in this one. They found a few more ground weapons other than Tope and look for them to hit
the air more tonight. I was pleased with the way the bulldogs fought back last week GO DOGS.
