OH,

i have no problem at all with the results of 04. I persoanlly thinkk a winning record should be required to advance.

As far as 05, I wish Logan had made the playoffs. They were league champions in a very weak league. I said that could happen. Logan was also D-1 which is the fast lane on Ohio high school football.

The league is stronger now( heck we have Ironton) and Logan is D-2. ANY team that wins the SEOAL WILL be in the playoffs.

I agree, I havn't looked at the stats for 05 but the League must of been way down that year.

Logan should make it past the first round this year and could make some noise in a very tough Region.

The league WAS way down.

I'm glad Logan didn't make the playoffs that year. Would have been U-G-L-Y getting in at 7 or 8 and playing Hilliard Davidson (who lost 17-10 to eventual champ ST. X in the final four) or getting a re-match with Lancaster.

Logan was one dimensional with a sophomore QB.

If your giving me the choice of which one I would rather do, be in the playoffs would have to be my choice. I agree that your 1st goal would be to win the league, but making the playoffs and playing for a much bigger prize has to be what you hope your team is doing. Some pretty good comments on here. I would say that the MAC is the exception to the rule as far as what the League does for your reputation. Heck, my take on leagues is that they are just a way to get AD's out of work....Sorry Mark. LOL

having attended a school with six 9-1 seasons in its history, numerous TVC titles, one SEOAL title, and zero playoff appearances

I can absolutely say

I would rather have a playoff appearance.

I know alot of people do like the league, however I'm kind of lukewarm about it when it comes to football. I may be different though in the fact that Portsmouth was independent from about 91 or 92 until 2005. Those were not only my formative years as a sports fan but about the same time I moved into town. In a way I miss the surprises you see every year, the freedom of scheduling teams from all over the state and the ability to schedule to your teams capabilities. I know being in a league is supposed to guarantee 10 games but 1997 is the only time since 1960 when PHS played a 9 game season.

Once you become so dominant that you are winning your league every year its time to set bigger goals. The playoffs are that goal. Once you start making the playoffs that should be your goal every year. Then you adjust from there.

In 2008 to compare Ironton with Coldwater and IGGY is delusional. The Burg is good, but they are not in the league either. Ironton will find there place this week.

Im talking about the playoff success these teams have had.
