Should the West vs. Burg game be moved to Spartan Statium?
Re: Should the West vs. Burg game be moved to Spartan Statium?
It has been several years, since Spartan has held a play off game.
I wouldnt be to worried about it happening anytime soon either, the place is falling a part

I would'nt want the game moved --that would not be fair to West but I HATE watching a game at west --there is like 40 yards between the fields and stands and the field has such a crown if you are setting down low you can't see the other side well. No intimacy at all , the opposing stands seem 1/4 mile away. Appealing to the eye , but awful place if you like being close to the action. I love Spartan. Don't understand the gripes about it. What is falling apart ?
R U serious about being away from the field????? if you are 40 yards away from the field at West then it must be about 60 yards between the stands and the field at Spartan.
Like was said unless they fix the visitors seats are fixed at Spartan, there in no way, shape or form be a playoff game played there. I will raise nines kind of hades if that happens.
Valley or jackson would be a perfect place. They could bring in bleachers at Valley and put in each endzone. Lot of space behind both goalpost. Plenty of parking and just an overall nice facility. If not there, then Jackson. Best field in the area, hands down.
all teams from down here usualy get screwed anyway, when it comes to play off sites,,,so they are used to that

I think the game should stay when and where it is. As far as if two Scioto County teams meet in the playoffs at a neutral site it should be Valley. Two local teams playing at a local field. But sadly, the powers that be that make decisions like that would make the two teams and their fans drive way out of their way.
GO BURG!!!

I agree it should be Valley.
but if , two teams from scioto county meet, it would prob be Jackson.....whitch isnt a bad thing either.

IF the stands were unsafe would portmouth let the visitors set there all season ? That flack about the visitors stands was some typical political portsmouth BS involving city council. Again specifically what is falling apart at spartan --I've been to 5-6 games there already this year , and will be there tonight---are there area's I should avoid
? As far as spartan being farther from the field than west you must be nuts --I've been to plenty of games at each the past 4 years and there is no comparasion --watching the game from the visitors stands at west provides a terrible view. Much closer to the field at spartan.

Take a good walk along the visitors stands while other people are walking up and down them! You feel like like those things are gonna give at anytime! They move more than the Offense does up the field at portsmouth!

Also try not to turn an ankle walking up inconsistent step sizes.
Bottom line is in an era of fields/stadiums PHS is a has been! Facility wise compared to fields of new, well its considered a DUMP!!
GOOD BYE SPARTY YOU WON'T BE MISSED!!!!

we have a nice antique they could play in down in ironton for the playoffs. you will actually feel like it is a football stadium instead of a sterile cold doctors office like jackson or valley

Went over and set in the visitors section last night, looked around at the stands --I saw no problems. In fairness Symmes Valley did'nt bring a hord of fans but there is nearly zero wrong with Spartan stadium . But the game should'nt be moved from west , that would be unfair. Having watched a game friday night at west and sat night at Spartan I'm 100% sure that Spartan is far better in TERMS OF being able to see the action.

The best thing that can be done with Spartan if ND gets it as their own is to do major repair. The bath rooms need work, as well does the track(if not taken completely out), the visiting bleachers should/need to be completely redone nothing like steps that are like someone else said completely different from one to another. I don't know if they don't even try to open up the other ticket window again on the visitor side. It needs work even more work than was done when it was set on fire, if they would have just continued fixing it up from then on it would be fine.

neutron man and manitoudan, if you girls hate it so much, then do not come.
this stadium is our home and we could care less what either one of you two
cheerleaders think. md you lived in kentucky, worked in portsmouth, took
your sibling to west to play softball, then went valley for asa. play basketball
at notre dame. do not talk about players home fields when you have none
to call your own. if you want intimacy, get yourself a bunny!

So if they move this one to Saturday, how many of you are going to go and not watch Ohio St. - Penn State on Saturday? A move to Saturday would hurt the gate.

I would love nothing more than to never see a game at West's field, its slope is horrible and when it rains, its very muddy! You already know how i feel about the distance from the stands to the field. Not to mention the fact that you can't play a game late in the season without having the massive fog roll in and disrupt the play of the game. Unfortunately where the burg goes I go. Which means I have to drag my butt out and go to there every two years.
Facility wise, it looks nice, But its kinda like putting lipstick on a pig! (thats not a political statement either)
Yeah I'll be there, for the right reasons, to support Burg win or lose. Doesn't matter how much I hate it. So West Side Pride I'll see you there! Or maybe I won't from all the fog.
Re: Should the West vs. Burg game be moved to Spartan Statium?
West has a great facility and Burg is looking forward to coming back over there for a great game. Wouldn't matter where this game is played it is gonna be a great one in which everyone wants to see. For all the marbles!

Glad you follow my every move LOL Don't know why I'd like to continue this foolishness but here goes --I moved from ky to portsmouth --Is that relevent to anything with this discussion ? (love portsmouth btw) -- I don't have any female siblings, but my kid did attempt to play softball over to the west side --we did because we thought thats where the best players were---bad mistake , league was way down that year and the grown men brawling on the field was a real downer. Went to valley to play asa ? HMMMMMM Did the wonderful players (and families) we shared 2 years with from WEST (and burg , minford , NW ,SW and all across scioto county ) feel like they were playing for valley ? you got one right --we are proud ND titans with a home field just like everyone else. You could have included I watched every west game home and away for 2 years when i had a family member play there (even wore black/orange)
Back to the game ---congrats to west and burg for being undefeated , I'd put West as a 3-4 point fav'. should be a great one. my opinion on the view of the field will never change . it's just bad. hopefully both teams go deep in the playoffs your ky-portsmouth-valley-nd friend MD

Re: Should the West vs. Burg game be moved to Spartan Statium?
Since I have migrated to SOC 1 I have been to different fields so I have to say Oak HIll has to be seen to be believed. Some one left them a fortune for a new field. It is even landscaped, has bathrooms with about 40 commodes and SOAP!!!Large beautiful facility.Just a killer walk up the hill to get to it thou.
Also, not that the game would ever be moved toSaturday,I have waited 8 weeks to be able to go to Burg and East in the same week.I certainly don't want it changed. It is bad enough I can't watch all of the OS-Penn St game Saturday.
