even though Spartan has "History" most people that like it are only people from the home town, all we heard from most visitors is how un safe ,and how they hated coming there.

And its the same people who are complaining now about building a new stadium, Maybe its TROJAN ENVY!!!!

History is nice, but it also means living in the past.......it was time to upgrade the resume, and the Portsmouth City Schools have done just that with this new complex. This facility might just be the best in all of SE Ohio and one of the finest in all of Ohio when it is done.

From my understanding, if it were up to some "local historians", the new Grant Bridge would have never been built. Seems like there was some sentiment to keep the "historical" Grant Bridge from being demolished. Considering that it cost the city of Portsmouth nothing to build, the new bridge was a no-brainer decision that thank goodness historical politicking didn't get in the way.

If you have the opportunity to upgrade, do so.........because that opportunity MAY NEVER COME AGAIN!!!

I agree TrojanDave
I drive by the construction each day. I think a stadium in the city will be awesome. It reminds me on a very small scale of Wrigley in Chicago --- right in the downtown. I cannot wait to see a game there. I hope they build the absolute best facility they can. Let alone the fact it is cleaning up an area that badly needed it.

ND is also checking with the city and it appears we will be able to play in Spartan next year. I will be satisfied when we have a little more accurate figures on cost and a contract signed. I am very excited for the ND community. Spartan Stadium will be the home to the Titans -- I think that is awesome! I cannot wait to get to work on it. Painting the bleachers blue and gold may be the first job then redoing the home locker room. I think we may also do a few things to bring out the history of the stadium.

I personally see the new stadium as a move forward for both Portsmouth and ND. I am very happy with the way things are playing out.

Where is Indian Head Rock going to be placed in the new complex? :122245 :122245

Congrats on the new complex and to Notre Dame for hopefully keeping Spartan Stadium alive.

I believe they would since schedules were probably made a couple years in advance. I am not sure in the future. I would like to keep the game on Saturday's. That would also stay with tradition of years past.

So does ND have any plans on renovating Spartan or just minor touch-ups?
also it would be nice to have Shawnee State start a football program and they could have a
nice stadium if they dump some money in it.

Putting a track around a football field sould be illegal. Wests old field you were so much closer to the games. West should have put their track around the soccer field.

Now, I dont know about a track around a football field being illegal, but I certaintly agree that a football field shouldn't have a track around it. Take minford's stadium for example, I played on it and the atmosphere was great. It felt like the crowd was literally right on top of you, which for most players is an adreniline rush and adds to the excitement (even though its hard to hear a snap count).

I wish the PDT would do a story or something on the complex because the plans have changed, I just dont know exactly what has changed except the location of the fieldhouse which is no biggy.

I think it's going to be really neat to have a downtown football stadium......with so many facilities being built on the outskirts of town, I'm glad to see our new stadium where it will be.........it will be much easier for the kids to get to practice.

Parking shouldnt be to bad with the schools so close there is alot of parking thats close and there are some Shawnee State parking lots about a block away if its a huge crowd.

parking will be good, not as good as spartan, but where else is as good as spartan...I was told something at the game last night IO did not know, they are actualy building a levy on one end of the field, so the levy lizrds will still have the levy to sit on and watch the game, "of course, now, they will have to pay to get into it' it is inside the facilitys....... if yoyu drive by, and see the HUGE pile of dirt on the one end, that is where iot will be.
