Marietta 2-5 @ Zanesville Rosecrans 4-3
Re: Marietta 2-5 @ Zanesville Rosecrans 4-3
After witnessing this one. It's a tuff one to swallow. And I give Rosecrans there repect. They were well coached. Very disciplined, and brought a good fight. I won't mention any names. The coach that was here last year for Marietta. Showed a blue print to be successful. He managed the game the way a good high school coach should. He knew high school football. He showed that you didn't have to have the best athletes to be competitive. I believe one of his motos was. You win with class and you lose with dignity. And when we lost last season. It was with dignity, the games were respectable. As much as I care about the football team. It is getting harder and harder to be and see the positives. Mr. Guimond, it's time to head in another direction. After this season, we don't need to wait till April to name a new coach. Marietta needs and deserves a quality coach who is in touch with today's game. I use to think that the head coach didn't need to be a teacher. It should be someone at the school to help recruit players in the halls. Build relationships, check in on kids and there grades. I hope we finish out this year being competitive with the last two games. Back to back years with 4 & 5 seniors. The culture has to be changed. This program can not be just handed over to an assistant. Mr. Guimond, the search has to be started. Your going to lose more athletes for next year. And again, the same pattern, 4&5 seniors. Nice guys does not equal good coaches. A good coach surrounds himself with great assistants. Sorry just blowing frustration and steam.

I’m watching this one right now and the Tigers played right into the strength of the Bishops, a nice slow pace game allowing the home team plenty of time to rest their players. A slow pace game if they were going with a power game would have worked, at least I believe it would have.
I am shocked that the Tigers staff thought they had a chance with the game plan they took into this one, even with all of the injuries they have.
#75 Jimmy Dye, who is listed at 6-2- 335 was not on the field as far as I could tell is he hurt?
I also noticed the def line play of Marietta was very poor and it appeared those big guys were getting beaten badly by the small O-Line for the Bishops.
The Tigers O-Line was no better than their D-Line.
Not trying to disrespect the players just calling it as I seen it.

Marietta needs to play very aggressive these next two games to set the tone for next year. It is what it is. You think we would have played Delphos St. Johns, Norwalk St. Paul, or another small school playoff team any closer. 71 may be right, maybe another direction is needed. But in the meantime, H. S. boys careers and dreams are flying right by and the Tigers do not look very organized or competitive at all. Marietta deserves and should have a WINNER.

That is the problem today. People don't deserve things they earn things. If you want a winner then you must work for it. If what you are doing is not getting it done then you must do more. Work harder, play smarter etc. Just because Johnny works hard doesn't mean he deserves it.gotribe wrote: Marietta deserves and should have a WINNER.

Yes that is correct, you must earn your way in life. The fans however, which i wasn't very clear in stating, deserve to back and support a winner. EVERY town will come and support good, solid, programs and playoff teams year after year. Now is the time to decide and look at what these programs across the state are doing yearly to contend and compete league and state wise. If this town wants stronger football teams, the kids, parents, coaches and fans need to look in the mirror and see what they can do to better themselves and the TEAM. I fully believe the Tigers can and will win very soon. They(the players) are finding out real quick they have to get stronger and tougher to compete in the ECOL. Yes, work, work, work, and then if the W's still aren't there, you know you gave it your all. Go Marietta!

back in early september many people close to football warned what would be the end result with bs in charge. they were correct. good guy but not a leader. says all the right things but action doesn't back up what is said. i like bob but not what marietta needs. he said the defense was not very good because they were installing a college defense. defense id tackling and pursuit not schemes. i coached against the tigers and it was an easy game to plan for. hope the tigers find a true leader that will commit for a while. imo
