haha...wish it would have been a little more competitive this time around.

The Ironmen are still getting used to the new system and Coach Hall is still learning some things about his team. Hopefully they have a good week of practice and show a lot of improvement next weekend.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't see how that was the best Burg team in 20 years. I don't claim to be a Burg expert, but I have seen better Burg teams in my opinion, of course I am only basing this on seeing this team one time. I thought Burg looked sloppy at times tonight.
Jackson, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have the size or skill that many of the the past Jackson teams have had. Jackson had difficulty moving the ball on the ground, and definitely did not protect the QB well enough to throw the ball at all.

But Both head coachs from Wellston and Jackson are from the Burg  Beat Ironton

pigskinguru,

I agree that Burg was a little sloppy at times, but I still think they looked pretty good for a scrimmage. I have no idea how this Burg team compares to past teams, but I think they'll be very good. Ironton will be a tough test next week and there are a couple other games on the schedule that could be tough tests, but I see no worse than 8-2 for the Burg this year. 10-0 is definitely a possibility, but they have to get that first win against a good Ironton team right out of the gates.

I agree with you about Jackson also. They seemed outmatched in the trenches tonight. Couldn't run the ball or protect the QB. I'm hoping that's partly due to how good Burg was up front, but I'm certainly worried about next week because of that. Jackson usually has a decided advantage over Wellston up front. I hope that's the case next Saturday.

Ironman02,

I agree Wheelersburg is a very good football team, just believe I have seen better Burg teams in the past. Would not put them up there with the best at this point.

Jackson has always been very physical up front, not always super-skilled, but always physical. It was something you could always "hang your hat on." I think this team may struggle in that department, and because of that, struggle against the better teams this year. When you can't move people up front and can't protect the QB, it is very difficult to do anything with any consistency on offense. It is just an observation. It doesn't mean it is correct. Hope it is not, but time will tell the true story. I thought the kids played hard, but I agree they were over-matched tonight, especially up front.

I don't believe Jackson played very well yesterday, alot of mistakes, fumbles, drop passes and the line is a big problem. However, the jackson team we seen yesterday was playing against a very talented Burg team that should have alot of success this season. So after all that i believe Jackson will do far better then what people are believing after seeing the scrimmage yesterday.

I'd say that you're probably right. I believe that Wheelersburg is certainly one of the best teams in all of SE Ohio. Jackson might see two or three teams on their schedule this season that could beat/hang with Burg. That said, there weren't many bright spots for the Ironmen last night. They need to steadily improve in every facet of the game, starting this week with preparation for Wellston. The Rockets have an experienced senior class and one of the very best athletes in the area in sophomore Jaylen Prater. It's going to take a great effort by the Ironmen on Saturday night to get a win. Our kids rise to the occasion every year against Wellston. I'm confident they will once again.

Definately wellston. Praters too hard to handle and he's got a good supporting cast in Osborne, miller, willket, and Darnell.

Hall and Jackson will not win many this year maybe 3 wins 4 tops but they will beat Wellston, if not Hall could be one year and done at the impatient Jackson.

Kind of quiet around here for Jackson-Wellston week. I thought things would pick up after last weekend's scrimmages, but it doesn't look that's going to happen. This year's game should be one of the better ones in recent memory, in my opinion. Can't wait to see Alumni Stadium absolutely packed on Saturday.

I just dont see it this year, I see Jackson coming out on top by a big win. Everyone has been putting Jackson down since the Wheelersburg scrimmage wellston will not be as good as wheelersburg. During the Meigs scrimmage jackson o-line done well;really well at pass blocking. I see jackson improving big time and i see jackson's o-line proving something.

Wheelersburg is definitely going to be one of the best teams in all of SE Ohio this season. I hope you don't think that I have been putting Jackson down by saying that they needed a lot of improvement after watching the Wheelersburg scrimmage. I'm confident that the Jackson staff and players are putting in the work this week, correcting the mistakes they made against Burg, and preparing to get another win over their arch rival on Saturday.
