I'm not judging anyone. Let's just show a little consistency is all I'm asking.

But, the more I thought about it the more I understood. That's all they have. For them beating one of the storied programs in Ohio high school football history is the only success they have ever had. For them that validates them as a program. To beat a program that has played in more state championship games(8) than they have playoff appearances(7) somehow lets them rise above the fact they've always had a mediocre big school program. Despite the fact these Ironton teams have not been as strong as they have been in the past, and the fact they have a rapidly shrinking enrollment, you take those victories and be proud, heck get you a trophy made if it makes you feel better about the fact you will never have the success Ironton has had.
Ironton has always been a little different. We don't consider league championships or a good regular season a success. We don't hang banners for league titles(which is good because we wouldn't really have room with all the SEOAL and OKAC titles we have won in the past) and our kids don't get t-shirts and brag about being SEOAL champs. For Ironton and Coach Lutz playing the regular season has always been about getting ready for the playoffs. So if playing a bigger, "better" team like Logan and possibly losing makes us better, so be it. I'm sure someone is going to get on here and say where has your success been lately. My only response will be, "When was yours ever?"

I see yet another poster that's upset b/c they can't dominate the Chiefs and win like they thought they were going to. But yes..go ahead and keep repeating the only thing you guys can say about the Chiefs..that's ok..it'll still be a win for the Chiefs in 2 weeks..and then..you and many others will come back on that Friday night and post the above statement that you just made. B/c you'll be bitter that you lost to Logan yet again and that's really the only thing you'll be able to say!And if League Championships didn't matter..why jump ship back to the SEOAL? Then why leave when you realize you can't win one? LOL...If they didn't matter..they would have stayed independent..nice try though!

You will possibly win the SEOAL and you hold no illusions that you will achieve any real playoff success which is a virtual certainty judging by your track record. I won't be bitter at all about losing to Logan (rif we do), you ae a much larger playoff caliber school. Besides, I think our record against Logan speaks for itself. As far as the rejoining the league to win a championship? I believe everyone knows the decision to rejoin the league was not a very popular one around Ironton. The decision was fueled by an athletic director who has since "been removed". As far as leaving the league, it is a pretty well known fact that this athletic program is headed into the red because of joining this league.

I'm sure the overall downturn of the economy has had nothing to do with it. EVERY school, regardless of league affiliation or independence has seen gate receipts go down and expenses go up.

For example come to a Logan home game. The Chiefs keep winning championships and the stands are full of fans rooting for the Chieftains. i am sure Tanks was liek this back in the 1900's.

All their championships hasn't been doing a thing for them lately. And a lot of people love to hate teams like them.
Go New York

People fall all over themselves laughing to read the nonsense that the geritol crowd post about history in the last century , now long since gone with nothing to show for it in the new century . For sure, we still have to contend with the braggards and fans with no class spouting off dribble. But for years now, the sportsmen have shown that their words could not match their deeds on the field against the Chiefs. Thus, its time to take their ball and run home to Mommy.
Quitters again.
Jealous.
And no titles of any kind.
