As for going Indie..get real...that couldn't happen and keep it within' reasonable travel. Logan doesn't have the luxury of being on the border of Ohio/Kentucky..we can't schedule all those tough Kentucky teams to fill up our schedule. :122249 And Logan has always played a tough non conference schedule..but when you do that the first 3 weeks..and then you have 7 weeks off..sorry..that doesn't do anything for you.

Then don't whine about how unprepared you are for the playoffs if you aren't willing and/or not able to play bigger/better teams the last 7 games of the year.
"All those kentucky teams"? Ironton usually only ever plays one Ky team every year (Ashland).

I guess that season got lost among all the 1st and 2nd-round exits. But the point remains.

I went through this entire list and could find only EIGHT schools with 20 or more playoff seasons and that includes TONS of big name "powerhouses" that are on the list. ( I didn't count how many schools there are total on the list)

They were:

St. Iggy
Steubenville
Ironton
Wheelersburg
Moeller
Mooney
Mogadore
And the list was topped by NEWARK CATHOLIC with 30 appearances.

Disclaimer.. I MAY have missed one or two..... but then who knows if IF.com is TOTALLY accurate either.

I appreciate your insight and observation. There's many genre one could include on that page! I've been thinking about it and it appears, you just gave me another.

Now, I don't claim the list is 100% accurate but...I do KNOW it's far more accurate than the one that OHSAA offers. One of the biggest problems in putting together a list like this is that you have to depend on OHSAA to list the schools correctly to start with in consolidations, school closings etc etc. I hope OHSAA's financial records are kept better than their team listings/stats/records or someone will be going to jail there one day

Who's whining? Nobody has whined..they just stated the obvious. All the bigger schools that we could play during the last 7 weeks already have league games to play themselves. The Chiefs always schedule up when they can. And yes..I see your correct..I mean..I clearly only see one Ky team on Ironton's schedule this year huh?

There is MANY schools in this state that WISH they could have the success and tradition that Logan has had/CURRENTLY having. Many teams can't even make the playoffs. I'm happy to make the playoffs..if we get beat..sure..I'm bummed..but I'm still just as happy to know that they are one of the few teams that made it.

Logan posters kinda remind me of the posters from Bellaire when they have a Davis playing QB. They go on and on about how great they currently are knowing they have no significant history and will likely be awful in the near future.

Heck, the scribblings on my sports calander are probably more accurate than OHSSA's records

That's a BIG problem. I'm betting that 90% of even the individual school's records and stats they keep are inaccurate.

Because of all the schedule and history talk...

Trivia questions: How many teams on Ironton's schedule have more than 500 wins all-time in its school history? Of all the teams that Ironton has on it's schedule this season, who has the most school victories all-time?

GO TIGERS!!!

Random thoughts or rambling thoughts? I guess I'm the unique Logan poster as I have said I have no past ties to Logan or to their most intense rivalry. And I am not interested in what happened last year, let alone last century. To me, what matters most is what will occur on September 25, 2009. I'm not talking smack, I just have a firm belief Logan will win. Simple as that. I hope the game doesn't denigrate into a spite fest. I'll spare no quarter to any Logan fan that hopes it does. I'll give Ironton all the credit in the world for what they accomplished in the past. And I'll hand it to them that they have another good team this year. They could compete for a state title. Now, are Ironton fans going to disrespect what Logan HAS accomplished the last few years because they have no state title (yet)? That would be unfortunate, in my humble opinion.

I think that Ironton's coaching staff is most concerned about what happens on September 18, 2009

Where do all those games against Boyd, Russell, and Belfry come from then?

Ironton's last seasons before the SEOAL:

2005: 3 KY teams
2004: 4 KY teams
2003: 3 KY teams
2002: 4 KY teams
2001: 3 KY teams
2000: 2 KY teams

So, while you are correct that while in the SEOAL Ironton has only consistently played 1 KY team, when they are independent you can see that they load up on the out of state cream puffs to beef up the playoff points without getting a challenge.

It's a nice gig if you can get it.

Typical post from blindwhitehat.

You'd think a guy with a name like that wouldn't show such an obvious bias. Maybe you're one of the famous "Tank Specials?"

You're post is funny though because Ironton fans remind me of Notre Dame fans. While the rest of nation/state has moved on, both Ironton and Notre Dame still think they are relevent.

Like Notre Dame, Ironton hasn't won a championship in 20 years yet the media repeatedly "ranks" each team in the preseason only to see them falter as the year goes on. Each used to play a challenging schedule and had post-season success, but now they have both watered down the schedule and don't compete well in the post-season either.

Every year fans of each school tell everyone how "this" is the year they "wake up the echoes" and come back to the top of the heap. Notre Dame lost on Saturday. We'll see how long Ironton keeps their hopes alive.

Most years, those Kentucky schools would have worn Logan out. Far more competion from them than Logan! Logan is simply enjoying the huge drop in attendence by many schools in the league. For instance, in 1990, Ironton beat...Logan 35 - 0 while losing to Ashland (Kentucky) 10 - 15! The year before, Ironton humilated Logan by a score of 44 -6 while barely besting Ashland 20 to 15 and Russell by a score of 21 - 13.

You can say what you want but Ashland and Russell has shown far more class to and they for sure travel better than Logan! Even if Ashland hasn't defeated Ironton in 19 years, their fans will be PACKED into the stadium this coming Friday night..Russell's fans filled the bleachers the first week. The SEOAL has left Ironton's bleachers empty and has depleted their cash stores!

You know what else Bellaire posters and Logan posters have in common?

Neither has seen their team lose to Ironton during these kids lifetimes.

kantucky -

You posed two examples, I can pose two more from the last two seasons when Logan ran laps around the Fighting Tigers after IHS had done the same to Ashland.

1990 was Dale Amyx first season at LHS. It was, for all intents and purposes, a total disaster. Amyx said himself this year he was surprised he didn't get fired after that season!

Ashland loses to Ironton even when Ironton is "down."

This would be like me saying Warren has been "great" competition for Logan. While a lot of years that is true, Logan dominates the series and up until 1999 pretty much every game was decided by 10 points or less. I doubt you would buy that either.

As for a crowd, apparently you don't remember the game in 2006 where despite the rain Logan had about as many fans as the Fighting Tigers. And you all had cover over your heads! I GUARENTEE Logan will bring more fans down this year than the Tigers brought to Logan the last two year COMBINED.

This comment does ruffle my feathers. I've never seen a team's fans travel like Logan's. Wait until the 25th. That old stadium won't be able to hold the multitude. It's a shame for this statement because Ironton barely made a dent in Logan's visitors section last year. Oh yeah, most of those left at halftime.
