If I were to vote for a coach right now it wouldnt be Boston,it would be his O-cordinator.

Its pretty cool to think that the Athens/Nelsonville-York match-up will be an unbelievable 'rivalry' game for the next couple of years ... Ive seen the kids from NY and yes there pretty good ... But you lose Arnold and he is a huge X-factor for the 'Bucks ...
With Athens having a ton of underclassmen (which Adams deserves a lot of credit for by building a football foundation that produces more players every year) they too will be solid next year and in 2011 ...
We had 'epic battle No. uno' last year ... (thx to Mr. Fox, NY won that round)
We will definitely have 'epic battle No. 2' this year ...
And in 2010, Athens will still have Trey Harris at quarterback, Ian Dixon at WR, DeVon Sharp at tailback and Tanner Weaver at runningback ... All four of those kids are ranked in the top 8 of the TVC-Ohio statistical rankings ... So 'Bucks-'Dogs 2010 should be a doozy as well.
Also for Athens; Chris Russell has been a lightning rod in the 4th quarter (17 carries - 204 yds and 3 TD's) and he is part of that soph class that includes Seth Stalder, Josh Skinner, DeVon Sharp, Mitch Rider, Travis Taylor 205 lbs, Trevor Sorrell 225 lbs, Zach Williams 240 lbs ... Throw them in with all the juniors like Joe Germano (who has been a beast on defense for Athens), Colton Noftz, Mason Kottyan 300 lbs, Zac Martin 220 lbs, Dan Deluca 215 lbs, Korey Sweeney (another promising tailback) ...
So those who think Athens will just go away after this years run may want to take another look at their roster ... Plus, the freshmen have won at every level since the 4th grade, the middle school teams are doing well and even the 5th and 6th graders I have heard are pretty strong ... How in the world Athens has pulled itself out of a black hole filled with losing seasons and terrible numbers (in terms of players) is beyond me ... but it does seem as if they are on the upswing right now and a lot probably needs to be credited back to Adams.
This year is definitly 'special' when it comes to ALEX, NY & ATHENS ... but... with the Spartans and their young skill players, NY with its strong underclass and Athens still having a lot of its stars returning next year, who's to say 2010 won't be just as intriguing???
Marshal ... it means exactly what it says ... different ... I figured spelling it out with periods would emphasize how important the word is. Different does not mean 'bad' or 'worse' ... nor is it a negative comment by any means.
The big difference with Athens is there attitude!!!!! When they step on the field they don't hope they win, They expect to win!! Coach Adams has done an outstanding job in the short time he has been there. The kids on that team will follow him any where and he has turned the seniors on that team into leaders! Athens will go 9-1 this year!!!!!
Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
According to past practice in the TVC, the COTY will go to the coach whose team wins the conference title.

Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
As someone who has played for Coach Adams when he was Athens RB's/DB's Coach and our Defensive Coordinator, and then Coached with him, he has a great passion and is very talented when it comes to getting kids motivated and getting the most out of what he has...
I've been saying that Adams should get a lot of the credit, and its true. However alot of the credit has to go to the teams Adams coached in his 2 seasons as head coach. They took a beating, they endured some of the worst loses in school history, but they also got these kids prepared to be starters when it was their turns to play. The Senior's lost early in their career's, but those hard losses have given them along with a skilled coaching staff, a sense of pride for the program. They know where it has been, with tons of winning back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. The pain of losing that took up much of the 90's. The rebirth of hope that came around '01-03, and then to where they had been before. Losing season's that followed from '04-'08. They have assured that this team will not have a losing season. A small step yes, but a step in the right direction. Next is winning a game when something rides on it. I'm confident this team and staff will accomplish plenty of this.
The End of the Season is going to be FUN to watch...

Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
The Buckeyes started 8 Soph's against Meigs. Remember that the NY Soph's have never lost a game when they are the oldest kids. 4th, 6th, 7th , 8th and 9th. Thats 5 undefeated seasons. When they are seniors they will not lose a game .NY will have so much depth that only 1 or 2 players will be playing both ways. The Athens game will be a blowout. as will Trimble and all the TVC Ohio games. They will make a big run in the playoffs that year!
BTW. They will win the TVC Ohio in Basketball, Baseball and of course Wrestling (Team will be top 3 in the State).
Good luck Buckeyes, The next 3 years are going to be a blast.

Love the enthusiasm and I am excited about the future as well. Right now just beat Alex, cause even a State Championship two years from now wouldn't take the sting out of a loss this Friday.

I wonder who would change their minds now about the COY? I bet after the next few weeks some of those who voted would switch their votes if they could.

when it is all said and done i think coach faires will be coy in the hocking. but there will still be some dads who think he cheated their kids out of playing certain positions. but those few dads are in it for their own egos, and not the team or really even their sons best interest.

Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
I say that after Athens finishes 9-1 coach Adams should get COY in the Ohio!!!!! He has done an outstanding job turning around one of the worst programs in SEO!!!!!
Then again after NY goes 10-0 coach Boston deserves some credit to!!!!!
Maybe we can have co COY's this year.

Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
I'm glad everyone is still voting for Coach of the year ... its an intresting poll to say the least ... I'm not always sure the COY should go to the league champ though.
I have a blog already written for this week but I haven't been able to get it uploaded yet - it talks about all 13 teams and its pretty interesting stuff .... but in terms of COY ... If Athens goes 10-0, no doubt about it, Adams wins .... just for the overall job he has done bringing Athens football back to life ... Faires definitly has done a wonderful job keeping the kids motivated after a (1-4) start .... but, he's won it a million times (and deserving so) ... If Tipton gets the Eagles to 4-1 in league play, he deserves a look .... If Teaford gets the Toprnadoes to (4-1) or even (5-0) in the league - he should get the nod ... Faires had to build a sperate room on his house just to make room for all his trophies, I wouldn't be upset if someone else got it this year .... but one thing, I really, really like Phil Faires ... He's a great guy, he's always helpful during interviews and he
"ADAPTS" to his personal of his team - that shows humility and he's not stubborn attemptiong to win using only his offensive style ... I believe he loves to throw the ball but Friday Vs Eastern he called 5 pass plays! That' crazy for a Faires led Trimble team ... lol
By the way ... the week 6 leaderboard has been updated since yesterday .... thx

IF Alex holds on to beat the Buckeyes , You can go ahead and give this to Sean Arno in the Ohio for breaking the streak!!!

Re: Strange stuff in the Tri-Valley Conference
If I had a vote ... I say 'co-coach of the year' with Arno and Adams ... basically for the overall job they have done with two once dead football programs.
