Not so fast. It may take some help, but at #11 after week 6, Burg still has definite playoff possibilities. Burg's remaining opponents are 15-9. There are lots of points out there and the playoffs aren't too far fetched. Also take a look at the teams in 1-10 right now. Most of these teams still have opportunities to lose a game or 2 along the way. Region 19 is very competitive again this year and there will be lots of changes before it is all said and done.

Barnesville - remaining opponents are combined 16-7
Caldwell - remaining opponents are 19-5 (3) 5-1 teams and (1) 4-2
Monroe Central - remaining opponents are 15-9 (2) 5-1, (1) 4-2
Ridgewood - remaining opponents are 15-9 including a 6-0 and 5-1. 3 remaining opponents are also D6 which would result in less points even if they win.
NY - remaining opponents are 15-9 including 6-0 Athens and 4-2 Ironton
Oak Hill - remaining opponents are 11-13 and all are DVI. They should win out, but will likely fall a few spots due to DVI competition with under .500 records
Coal Grove - remaining opponents are 5-19

Basically, Burg should be able to make the playoffs if they win the last 4 games. Of course this is a challenge in the SOCII, but there is still a lot of football to be played. 8-2 should be good enough to get us in the post season.

I'm going with the Burg in this game. The mohawks staff needs to work together better and come up with some kind of offensive game plan running about 6 different plays a game don't cut it.

Look for some major changes for the Burg this week. If what I have heard is correct then we could possibly even see a new QB. Word is that the XP attempt the Minford game was a Sweep right to Shank and the QB changed the play when he went to the line. If you watch the play you will notice Shank lined up on the right and the QB moved him to the left. If this is the case and I was the coach I believe I would let him have a seat on the bench for a while.

I believe the last time the burg lost to northwest was 1970. I have the scores of the games on my old laptop but I am almost 100% positive it was 1970. I know it hasn't been in the post miller era. ed miller came to burg in 1972.

I have lived in Wheelersburg since 1971 and the Pirates have never lost to the Mohawks since then.

i got the scores from my old lap top and the burg last lost to the mohawks in 1970. the score was 26-14.

the series started in 1960. the burg won that game 35-12.

Before Ed Miller:

1960: Burg 35 NHS 12
1961: NHS 16 Burg 12
1962: NHS 14 Burg 8

1968: NHS 14 Burg 12
1969: NHS 24 Burg 20
1970: NHS 26 Burg 14
1971: Burg 50 NHS 7

the burg have won 39 straight games against northwest.

a bit off track but the only team that has a losing streak datin back longer than 1970 in valley. they only have two wins agaist the burg. 27-12 in 1962 and 32-0 in 1964. thanks to jesco white for the info on valley. burg has won 25 straight over valley

here is the series record as i have it. i have a different score on the 06 game as posted on burgfan. so if anyone knows what the score was feel free to correct it. also if anyone knows the score of the game in 1988. anyone who knows the score post that one also

Wheelersburg 65% (6W-12.7-3% 7W-15.7-53% 8W-19.2-99%)

So the Pirates basically have to win out to get in. 7 wins and 53% probability isn't very good odds, but 8 and 99% are. Even then I think they are on the road in week 11.

Burg_Grad you are correct if the Burg gets in they probably will now be any higher than #6 that will be a road game. Below is also a seed prediction for region 19 that Drew has posted on his website.

Region 19 Projected Seeds
1) Nelsonville-York (Nelsonville)
2) Fredericktown
3) Monroe Central (Woodsfield)
4) Oak Hill
5) Liberty Union (Baltimore)
6) Minford
7) Ridgewood (West Lafayette)
8) Wheelersburg

I agree with most of the seeds with the exception on Nelsonville. I do not think that they will be able to knock off Athens and Ironton.

It sounds like if Craigmiles would get the ball more the Burg wouldn't be in this position.

Not saying that Craigmiles does not need more touches but it does take more than one player to win a ball game.

I love it when an adult gets on here and bashes a group of HS kids like this. To say that our Burg kids or even the residents of Wheelersburg feel as if we are "Still having a hard time realizing their poop stinks and aren't better than everyone else" just tells me how much you really don't know about our kids and us. The opinions of a few posters on here who call themselves Burg fans and may say some elitist things do not speak for the rest of us. So don't put us all in the same class, especially if you are talking about our kids. If you are primarily talking about our kids, well then, I just feel bad for you, because that is just downright ridiculous for an adult to say that about 16-18 year old kids.

Burg 42, NW 14.
