DLD is a 3 year starter and one heck of an athlete. By far, the best QB that I've seen this year. He's tall, fast, and has a very strong arm.
MC has some really nice athletes. If Burg ends up playing MC, this ought to be a really good game.

No but it could hurt if they lose. A win keeps us at #5 a loss drops us to #6 based upon the outcome of a couple other games. Although at #6 we would rematch with Minford only 15 minutes up the road.

For the Wheelersburg folks, I'm pasting the link to the article, as well as the article itself, from the Martins Ferry Times Leader. If you end up playing Monroe Central, you may very well only have to drive to Marietta. Coach Circosta is a class act and would rather play the game on a field in good condition than to ring the cash register for the home school with concessions and parking.

Monroe Central caps 9-1 campaign
By Bubba Kapral POSTED: October 31, 2009
Monroe Central put the finishing touches on a brilliant regular season in championship fashion Friday night.
Coach Jay Circosta, the Ohio Valley's all-time winningest football coach, guided his Seminoles to a 45-8 pasting of homestanding Buckeye Trail at Old Washington. The game was halted with 57.7 seconds left in the fourth quarter after a Buckeye Trail gridder was apparently seriously injured and was attended to on the field for some 15 minutes.
Circosta's 283rd career triumph netted Monroe Central the OVAC 2-A title and the Pioneer Valley Conference championship. Moreover, it will likely land the 'Noles a home game in the opening round of the Division V, Region 19 playoffs.
"It's been a tremendous season so far. Anytime you win some championships it is a successful year. But hopefully we can extend it for several more weeks," said the personable mentor. "The 9-1 record is a credit to all the hard work the players and staff have put in. We have a great group of players and equally super bunch of coaches."
The Seminoles will enter Week 11 on a roll. They have won 16 of their last 17 starts, the lone blemish coming at the hands of West Virginia's premier Class AA team in Magnolia.
Friday's contest with Trail was a mismatch from the outset.
The 1-9 Warriors had no answer for the Monroe Countians' explosive offense, which was missing one of its main cogs. Talented sophomore running back Tyler Kinchen was idled to due a calf injury, although he saw mop-up duty at quarterback.
Monroe Central built a 32-0 halftime cushion before putting it on cruise control as Circosta liberally substituted in the second half.
"I am pleased with how we played tonight. We ran the ball effectively and defensively we controlled the line of scrimmage," he said. "The one area which I am not happy with was our hurry-up offense. I wanted to get some positive work with our two-minute drill, and we did not."
Monroe Central amassed more than 300 yards rushing while senior quarterbacking ace Derek-London Dierkes passed for another 122 stripes, despite only attempting 10 passes.
Meanwhile, the swarming Seminoles' defense yielded less than 100 total yards. The homestanding Warriors were unable to reach paydirt until three minutes remained in the contest.
Monroe Central scored on its first possession and never looked back. The visitors used a 19-yard run by sophomore dandy Kole Hogue to ignite the scoring onslaught. Dierkes added the PAT.
Dierkes, just minutes later, rolled in from 7 yards out to make it a 13-0 reading.
After a short Buckeye Trail punt, senior bulldozer Jesse Headley capped a 49-yard march from a yard out as the lead grew to 19-0.
The 'Noles added two second-period TDs.
Dierkes located wideout Tyrone Kinchen for a 31-yard touchdown while Hogue busted one from 24 yards for the 32-0 upperhand at intermission.
The final two Monroe Central scores came via runs as Hogue found paydirt from 34 yards while Headley busted in from the 5.
Buckeye Trail averted the whitewashing on the strength of a 6-yard sweep by scrappy senior Brandon Sealock.
Circosta and the OHSAA playoffs are synonymous. This marks his 10th foray into the postseason, but first since 2003.
"It's a great feeling to get back in. It allows our seniors to play another week," Circosta said. "We may have an issue with our field if we get a chance to host next week. Our field is in real poor shape. We have contacted Marietta about the possibility of playing there since they have turf."
Circosta's trophy case now totals 12 OVAC championships and 16 PVC crowns.
Re: Wheelersburg Playoff's
Ridgewood has 4 teams playing tonight with 2 of them playing each other (6-3) TCC plays (0-9) Connotton valley. I think a burg-minford rematch is the least likely of the 3 possible scenarios but you never know. Ridgewood-minford seems to be the most likely to me.
Re: Wheelersburg Playoff's
Stueb Cath Cent, Shadyside, Tuscy CC/Conotton Valley, all beaten by Ridgewood, play 2nite against . TCC will probably beat Conn Valley which adds .35 to Ridgewoods final avg. Either way its only .35 pts for Ridgewood(both are D6 teams). That is for sure since Ridgewood beat them both. If they, SCC and Shadyside, win that adds .9 to Ridgewoods final avg. So instead of a 18.25 avg, add on .45+.45+.35=1.25 giving them a final of 19.5. If vasj wins 2nite, that would put Burg and Ridgwood in a tie. VASJ is predicted to win, Shady and SCC are predicted to lose. If VASJ loses, burg ends at 19.1, and Shadyside and SCC still have to win regardless of TCC/CV game to pass Burg because Burg is ahead by .85 points over Ridgewood. A loss by eiter SCC or Shadyside would only give ridgewood .8 pts.
With all that Coal Grove is sitting at 19.05, so if that last scenario holds (shadyside or TCC winning) they would tie CG and OHSAA go to 3rd level pts. They are .8 pts ahead of ridgewood.
I dont know how to go on this one. I want shadyside to win because they play a KY team. SCC has the best fans in the world. Heck, playing Oak hill or Minford would be awesome, and would give us a slight repreive in the march to the regionals. Right now its through MC and the freddies. Other way would be Minford and OAk hill. Obviously a shorter drive!

WOW!! That would be unbelievable! I know both teams would play very well on turf. Better drive for Burg also. I made a trip to marietta in 2 hrs 20 min (and had the wifee with me...slow down!!). Alot better than 3+ to MC home field. Hate that for the gate though. Burg will bring alot of people!

Why wouldn't MC still get the gate? Marietta would be stupid not to do that. MC could work it out where Marietta gets the concession and the parking as long as they get the gate, plus how much business is it going to bring to the town with people eating there.
Would be a win-win-win for all involved

Hopefully, things will get worked out for the Marietta field, as it would certainly make things easier for the Pirate fans, as it would shave an hour off your drive. For my own selfish reasons, it would afford me a 25 minute drive instead of an 85 minute drive to the game

If memory serves me correctly, OHSAA gets ALL the gate $$$$ from playoff games, with the exception of the pre-sale tickets that the schools sell. Of those tickets, the schools get a dollar or two. Financially, the big loss in this situation are the concessions and the parking. Monroe Central charges for parking all season, it is a big money maker for the program. All of the parking in Woodsfield is on concrete lots or paved lots, which is nice, so I never minded the $2 for parking.
Still, just having a ticket to the dance is great, so regardless of where the game is played, I'm not complaining!!!!

How does Eitel show Fredericktown in 2nd but has them as clinched the #1 seed. I'm confused.
Regardless of where the Burg finishes, they just have to go out and take care of business. After week 1 in the playoffs all the games are on the road, so to speak.

Quote from oshaa regs:
7. Regional Qualifying Teams
The eight schools with the highest per game average of points in each region will qualify for the regional football tournament. If a school chooses not to participate in the regional tournament, the school with the next higher per game average will become a qualifier.
7.1 In case of a tie in any region for the eighth qualifying team, the point values of the tied teams shall be calculated using the third level of competition to break the tie.
On the third level of competition:
Points are earned for each game that a defeated opponent’s defeated opponents may win (FULL VALUE)
Points are earned for each game that a defeated opponent’s defeated opponents may tie (ONE-HALF VALUE)
INTERPRETATION #1: Team A and Team B after 10 games of the regular season are tied for eighth place in their region, each with an average of 7.6500 points. By using the third level of competition for Team A and Team B, it is determined that Team A earned, with third level points,
K:\Kim\FOOTBALL\Regulations\2009 Boys Football Tournament Regulations.doc
5/15/09
an average of 12.3500 points and Team B earned, with third level points, an average of 13.2785 points. Team B qualifies for a regional tournament, Team A does not.
INTERPRETATION #2: After 10 games of the regular season Team C and Team D are tied for eighth place in their region; each with an average of 12.4500 points. It is determined that Team C had played and defeated an out-of-state school opponent. There are no third level competition points available when an out-of-state or non-member opponent is involved. When the third level of competition cannot be applied in the case of a tie the following steps shall be followed in the order listed.
1) The team that won in head-to-head competition.
2) If the teams did not play each other, the team with the most regular season victories will qualify.
3) If the teams have the same number of regular season victories, the team whose opponents earned the most victories will qualify.
4) If the total victories of the opponents are equal, the team with the highest victory percentage will qualify.
5) If the teams have identical victory percentages there will be a blind draw conducted by the Commissioner to determine the qualifying team.
I thought it went best record, then 3rd level points as the tie breaker rule? Either way this is the hardest region to predict I have seen in awhile. Only 1 game is set in stone and its week 10.
