I believe that Chief Jay took over for Bob Butz as head coach in 1972, and the rest is history. Mrs. C was my second grade teacher in the 70-71 school year, and if memory serves me right, she quit teaching right after that as they were starting a family and Coach C took the helm at Woodsfield.
So, if my memory is correct, that would make Chief Jay 37-1 against the Cougars.

From what I've heard and read the first game was in 1969. WHS's starters were not allowed to play in that game. From then on I know of no year the two didn't play. So WHS/MC is 40-1 against Frontier.

selonmc - It was 68 or 69, I can't remember for sure, as that was when the consolidated high school opened up between Beavertown and New Matamoras. I was speaking specifically to Chief Jay's record. Throwing in Coach Butz's wins just makes it even worse....
