5-2 really guys? We have way more line backer type guys then we do quality defensive tackles. The 5-2 is one of the easiest defenses to scheme against. Very few adjustments need to be made at the line, it can be power blocked, trapped, with ease, without any check offs at the line.
4-4 however is much more versatile, as you can easily shift into a 4-3, or walk a line backer up to give more of a 5 man look like you seem to want. The plethora of stunts that is available out of this defense is the strength of it. Our problem with it, isn’t the coaching, as this is a defense that has been very successful for the Trojans throughout the years. The problem is that our boys continue to play out of position, and do not know responsibilities. Need to spend more time on studying the scouting reports.

I would agree with TFBA that the 5-2 is not the right fit for this group. I also agree that we are not playing our positions. I said it above our DL catches people and doesn't fire off the ball as does our OL. Our DE are undersized but have a tendency of allowing the opposition to get the corner. If everyone does their job we would be fine. This team has left it's self no room for error and any lose will eliminate this team from the playoffs. I do think that the blame is both coaches and players not just one side. But bottom line is no coach is able to make a play on the field, it's time for this team to put up or shut up. It's now or never for this group of seniors they need to come together and play their best football. GO TROJANS

At anytime Moore can win a game with his running or arm

Taylors can put the ball in the inzone along with Hannon's leg

With Wilson's talent it just looks like Gallia might be a one man team

Against Chilli our Defense played great, our offense played great, penalties killed us, special teams gotta step up I know there are some younster playing on special teams to give the starters a break but it is put up or shut up time now we are in a hole and must win out to get a share of the S.E.O.A.L. title I think we can do it . The hard work and sweat put in this summer will pay off.

If Portsmouth's QB makes the start, the Blue Devil secondary will be the key. They have been suspect at times this year when I have seen them and Portsmouth's QB could make them pay with either his legs or arm. He made some nice plays against West just all the bigger plays were called back on penalties. I'm expecting another close game that could go either way at Memorial Friday night.

wilson has been the offensive big play machine. yea there are 10 other guys out there but it doesnt take a genious to know who you have to shut down. the four headed monster comment has come back to bite them. nobody has stepped up in that scheme and shined like he has. they are playing better competition now. they can finish no worse than .500 so that is a plus from last year. why did the chillicothe thread disappear?

hey 91...Good comment about the 4 headed monster.... Wilson is one of the best players in Southern Ohio, he is no secret to our competition.. Teams will take there 2 fastest players and shadow Wilson the whole game.... Isn't that what Chilly did? What worked early in the season will not work against better competition... Our coaches need to adjust.. Our playbook in recent weeks is getting smaller, same old plays over & over again..... We rushed the ball approx 40 times last week......29 times by the same player..... When it doesn't work we get exposed.... Golden & Taylor are good backs and need more touches...Our QB is a solid passer & we need to take advantage of his talents... Dropped to the #9 spot in Reg 12 this week... A play-off bid is within reach...Just keep on winning....LOL

superblue it was fun watching the blue run up and down the field early in the year it didnt take much to look good. it has gotten stiffer in league play these teams know who they have to stop to have a shot at a win.

This should be an interesting match-up, a must win game for both teams, on paper Gallia should win this, they run the ball which is Portsmouth's weakness, but who knows maybe the upset against Chilli took some wind out of their sails and the win against Marietta put some in Ptown's...Portsmouth has proved it can score points and make it a shootout, and if Myers comes back it might be extra motivation that the Trojans need to win this game, I think they have to skill kids to run Gallia to death if they can keep them from scoring every possession. But, if either team wants to make the playoffs this is a must win, it would mean a ton of points for Portsmouth and would probably get them in at 5-5 if they do win, and in Gallia's case region 12 would be hard to get in to with 3 losses....good luck to both teams, hopefully its an injury free game

the trojans are 8 right now with only 3 wins......what a schedule ....we have Gallia Academy this week, Logan next week,and finish with Ironton

Is Myers coming back??? Because, if he plays, this teams chances of going to the playoffs are very good. Get healthy, because the playoffs for Portsmouth are still a real possibility. Just get it done.
