division breakdown for the fighting tigers
d-0
d2-1
d3-3
d4-4
d5-2
d6-0

ironton scored 300 points or 30 points per game, and allowed 163 points , or 16.3 a game. pretty dang impressive . especially for those accusing us of a weak schedule. and we played 7 teams with winning records

Solon is a darn good team. Hammonds is a blast to watch run the ball.

Some will jump me for saying this . Private schools shouldnt even count. It is unfair to place them in the same pool with public schools. They can recruit , I know they say they dont but its up to them who attends their respective school. It just so happens that all the kids that sighn up for their schools can play Football Basketball ect. :aaaaa99
I beleive there should be a public champion ,and a private champion crowned each year. For now all I can do is root for the public schools and hope they win the Titles in the 6 divisions in Ohio

Not all private schools are power houses in sports. I understand your point, but is it fair to lump all the private schools together because of a few top heavey schools?

YES. HAVE SEPERATE DIVISIONS,BUT WHEN ARGUABLY D5 YOUNGSTOWN URSILINE IS THE STRONGEST TEAM IN THE STATE. WITH THE SMALL NUMBERS IN A D5 SCHOOL. IT SHOULD BE VERY OBVIOUS. BUT THE PRIVATE SCHOOLS NEED DIVISIONS AS WELL. MAYBE 3.

Private vs Public..

Just look back over the years and the Private schools that are athletic powers win.. and move up/down.. and it appears to help
each other along the way even more in the D3.D4.D5 divisions. . KA has moved up/down from D3-D4 in recent years.. Mooney as well.. seems like they aren't in the Same Division on football very often . hmmmmm.. Toss Ursuline in the mix.. and the make sure to keeep enrollement small enough not to get into D4 which is KA... turf right now.. and KA won't jump up to D3.. to take on mooney.... or Watterson. DeSales.. D2.. is differnt it seems
not as many power in recent years.. D1. is is D1.. rulled by St. Iggy.. Moeller..St. X... Cincy Elder.. and such.. Glenville and Davidson, Mentor get there .. but they have to beat the MUCH LARGE St.'s... along the way...

open enrollement has helped alot of mid county schools.. including mine.. but year after year.. the St..Privates wil be in the mix
more often than county schools.. Coldwater.. Marion Local.. Kenton.. West Jefferson, Davidson, .. all of these community schools
have down years.. the PRIVATE schools. don't have the down slide as much..

Trip4, I don't know if Alter recruits but as far as enrollment I can tell you this when Bishop Fenwick(Middletown) built their new school on the edge of town they started getting kids that would have gone to Alter before. Fenwick has jumped from Div 6 not long ago to Div 4 now. There are other options in that same area with Badin, Cham/Jule,Bishop Carroll as well as Alter and Fenwick. I really don't think that Alter refuses kids whose family has the ability to pay the 7500 annual tuition just to stay Div 4. I failed to tell you earlier that my nephews played at Fenwick so you know Iam not trying to make excuses for Alter. I think in the case of Ursuline that they benefit from a ton of kids who are there on State vouchers as well as Dayton CJ too. This will always be debated here(as long as bait has a computer) but I don't know if there will ever be an answer because ther are just as many private schools that struggle as there are those that thrive.

Rumor in southern ohio is that all good recruits in Youngstown either go to Mooney or ursuline. Hard to convince anyone that it isnt the truth. Look at the records. I dont know if they are adjacent school districts that kids get to these schools. My step son had to have a psyche eval to go from one school to the next down here. Cost me 150 bucks. It is a state rule. These two programs are the ones that my kids grew up with, like, and i just cant figure out how a d5 school rules the roost in the whole state.

they just must be the toughest bunch of kids in the whole state, year in , year out right in that one neighborhood, without fail. sounds logical to me.
