Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1 Aug 26th
Heard FF only has around 20 players and were physically dominated by Philo in a scrimage. Philo should be about a 5-6 win team this year. If that was the case I would say FF is in for a long fall.
Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1 Aug 26th
Fort Frye is in for a long haul... but actually looked alot better against a bigger team. Also in this game C. Lang could only throw the ball about 25 yds in the air and did not play Defense due to a bum throwing shoulder (leading tackler from last year). Also as the Spy said a new 140 lb lineman started. That all being said FF drove the field but did not finish drives, the defense was undersized and needs major remodeling. I would say FF is going to be the most athletic team on the field throughout their schedule (except Monroe) But will also be the weakest.

I heard they played down and distance most of the game and the score was 17-7.I don't think that is that bad considering how much bigger Philo was.Fort Frye will be ok if the main players stay healthy. They can stop the run but struggle vs the pass. They are a 5-5 team.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Cadets for this first time in a long time, but this is the same kind of preseason talk we've been hearing for a few years now. I'm glad there are at least a few kids that want to play and hope they'll understand that it's a year-round commitment.

So many players quitting and getting hurt I am proud of the players that stuck around.I am sure River will have 49-17 an 35-14 stuck in their minds. With Stud Rb Spencer Lang healthy the Cadets should be alright. This will be a super close game.Returning lineman Wriston,Kehl,Scott, and Bowman are the Key.Big kids will need to push piles.Chandlr Lang will do just fine but it will be his 1st start.Kids a born athlete.SR newcomer Cuthberson runs hard and can catch anything.FBMax will impress people. The team is just a bit thin.Let's hope they don't wear down in the 4th.

90% of this post is comedy. Never knew FF produced so much hard talent, they sound like the Glenville of Southeast Ohio!

If Fort Frye can stop the pass they have a good chance to win this game.

Out of the 8 teams that River faced in 3 scrimmages, only 3 were able to score on the first team defense. Offense looked good at times and average at times running a limited playbook. This is a much improved River team, how much better remains to be seen. Should be a good one Fri. night!

No prob. Just stating my opinion based on watching both teams scrimmage, with one team being a mutual opponent.

So what's the score going to be?I know FF has a weakness in pass defense.Chandler Lang also only played defense at the end of the game.
Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1 Aug 26th
I've read nothing but positives about River and nothing but negatives about Fort Frye. Also River has scrimmaged better opponents. Unless EasternD has been sandbagging about his comments about the Fort it just seems River is due to breakout in this game. All in all though it's week 1 and I have no idea.

Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1 Aug 26th
Way to early in the year for me to be guessing scores. I will say that River has the POTENTIAL to be an above average team this year barring major injuries. Whether that comes together or not remains to be seen. Dont think Fort has that potential. If River can stop two players they win this game.
Re: Hannibal River @ Fort Frye Week 1 Aug 26th
What do you River fans think about the kicking game? Is Colten Tanner going to get it deep enough. Seems in years past the special teams were River's ultimate weakness. Always beginning defensive series at the 40-45 yd. line.
