Last or near last in the league. The results of
That team!!, the last undefeated blue devil
Football team, sound familiar ball. Lol
Go blue.

An earlier post listed Licking heights as D3. The newly released Division breakdowns have them listed as D2. The GAHS schedule has five D2 teams (Licking Heights, Warren, Chillicothe, Logan and Marietta), two D3 teams (Athens and Jackson) and three D4 teams (Wellston, Ironton and Portsmouth).

Nice breakdown Pappy.. This is basically the same schedule we have played the last 15 years or so. Only new teams are Licking Heights & Wellston.... Heights is on our schedule because they were probably our only option to fill our schedule.. Hopefully Point will become an option in the near future and Wellston can be dropped...

No way GAHS beats Wellston? lol heard that last year and the game was over at half time . as far as Wilson goes he was a great great player but there was alot of good blocking for him to do the things he done also we were not a one horse team we were a TEAM. Yes I know speed is nice but it did nt help us against Jackson? or Chillicothe or Ironton . when we played as a TEAM we won as aTEAM . When we went out to the races we got smoked.

Even without Wilson, Golden, & Moore we will be MUCH more athletic than Wellston............they were the least athletic team we played last year by far! Hardnosed kids but no speed, at least football speed. Johnston, Taylor, and Pullins were more athletic than anyone they had on the field.

You are spot on MMD, when we became one dimensional on O we got beat. When we played team ball we won. We beat ourselves against Chillicothe!

Do you think it was because we got one-dimensional on Offense? I tend to think we were fairly one-dimensional all year. It just didn't work against the better teams we played. Most of the games we won, we "out-athleted" the competition. Our offensive and defensive schemes were both fairly limited and we were unable to make effective in-game adjustments when our base stuff didn't work.

From an offensive standpoint, all three teams that beat us made a concerted effort to take Wilson out of the game. Wilson shortened an awful lot of drives last year because of his explosiveness. But it wasn't like we couldn't get yardage without him. Our offense was able to move the ball, especially in the Chillicothe game, but we were unable to sustain drives that would take 10 or 11 plays to score vs. the quicker strike capability we had with Wilson because we were so undisciplined with penalties.

We're going to be able to move the ball just fine this year. We just won't have as much of a home-run threat we had last year. I can envision longer drives that chew up the clock. Our lineplay is going to be the key. We have lots of experience across the front. The questions is whether we can move the ball without taking two steps forward and one step back all the time.

If we were one dimensional it was called that way.Wilson made it look great but it did nt always work he was a non factor against jackson CHillicothe we played great just to many penalties Ironton outmuscled our defense an ran the ball down our throat. Guess what this is a new year and new kids last season was great but these boys will emerge from the shadow of last season and make this one there own

Wellston will be a good game, what you have to remember those kids were really young!! Some freshmen and a bunch of sophs, athletic? Wellston will be faster and the more athletic team this year.
GA will be solid and try to sustain drives i said good game.
Athens is loaded possibly best RB in the area reminds me of Phil King thay also lost almost nothing.

How many great players have came and went through the program over the years?..................... Exactly, Gallia will be just fine this year. I don't know about playoffs, but I do predict at least a winning season. Oh, and Gallia will beat Wellston similar to the way they did last year. Wellston lost one of their best players to Jackson, and even that wasn't going be enough to save them from the beatings they are going to receive week one and three. I agree with superblue, and would like to see this game replaced with Point Pleasant sooner rather than later.

In regards to last year Gallia should have beat Chillicothe by at least two scores. Against Ironton and Jackson they simply could not stop the power running game period. I think the offense will be fine. The only question I have is can the defense dig in for the two biggest games on the schedule.

Wellston hasn't been able to beat the SEOAL teams (except for the anomaly with Jackson last year) for many, many years. The trend will continue this year. Gallipolis does need to get Point back on the schedule IMO.

How's Gallipolis Gallia Academy's football prospects doing so far this summer? How many Blue Devil prospects are working out in the weight room? Will GAHS have some surprises this fall other than the returning lettermen?

Just asking.

Any news on how GAHS prospects are doing this summer. Heard the McKitrick kid from Mairetta is transferring to GAHS, but will not be playing football. Is that true? In Gallia's victory over the Tigers last fall, McKitrick led MHS with 112 yards rushing in 15 trips (7.5) and scored a TD and a 2-point conversion.

Jottings, from what I understand, the young man
Has applied to the state and has explained his situation,
For his transfer, and is awaiting a response from the state.
Hope it works out for him . He should be able to play, based
On what I hear, good luck to this young man, and
Go blue

Does GAHS have a projected starting lineup, both offensively and defensively, or is it too early?

I haven't heard one yet this years juniors are some very good players so I'd say there is some tough competion for the starting spots plus if mckitrick comes he will be another competing for a varsity spot

Still a bit of sorting out to do for a few spots. Still difficult to tell until they put the pads on. Most of the spots that seem pretty secure are starters from last year.

Heard McKitrick is not going to be able to play due to issues other than the transfer.
