Good Luck Grovers! Open Week hasn't won a game in quite some time! I hear their offense and defense is almost nonexistant

Remember, in 2009 the Hornets went 9-1 and beat a decent 5-5 Meigs team, 7-3 Valley, DII-sized Greenup County (3-7), and a 6-4 Fairland in what was essentially the OVC championship game. All of that and they got the 8th seed.

The next year, Coal Grove beat a 5-5 Athens squad (DII), 7-3 Trimble (made the playoffs, too), and an improved 5-5 Greenup County. They were murdered by Valley and upset in the final game of the year by Chesapeake, but still squeaked into the playoffs.

Greenup County dropped the Hornets, as did Trimble. Those early-season wins were what got CG into the playoffs and even that was barely enough. CG had it's opportunities to secure a quality win against Wheelersburg and again against Valley this season.
and there is the problem fuzz,,,,,this schedule is what everyone wanted,,,,the only problem is that this team was not ready for this type of non-conf schedule(which kills me how people say the Grove has a tough schedule, are people trying to tell me that Wheelersburg was a tougher game than Athens last year). People like to say you play tougher teams to get better, well we played tough teams last year and we still are not any better after week three. On another note, the team has to want it and I truly believe this team doesn't want it. I was at Valley last week and that team gave up,,,,,thats right,,,,gave up in the second quarter. I can't put my finger on it but it feels to me and I have had this feeling for a couple of years now and that is that the current versions of the Coal Grove Hornets don't have that fire and/or desire to succeed. They don't hold proper technique's on offense or defense and when you put your entire offense on the back of your quarterback you limit yourself to what you can do. What I would like to see the Grove do is get back to Grove football. Let's run the ball, we will have a pass or two in there and then play sound defense where you defense actually wraps up the ball carrier and takes him to the ground, if I see one more arm tackle I am going to be sick.
Must be in the OVC water, Rock Hill has had the same issue since 08 No fire no desire and downright poor attitudes in most everything they do. You can literally see their drive fade out as soon as the other team gets a second score. The first quarter of the Minford game I thought they might have gotten past it. they were taking it to them on the first to drive only to not punch it in and then an interception. When Minford scored the second touchdown they were just going through the rest of the game. Heartbreaking for the few that do play with heart.

So someone from Oak Hill wants to commit, lets look at non-conf schedule so far.

Oak Hill
Chesapeake 1-2
Alexander 1-2
Rock Hill 0-3

Coal Grove
Meigs 1-2
Wheelersburg 2-1
Valley 3-0

Come back and make a comment after you played Ironton.
if oak hill is such a powerhouse why didn't they stay in the league with coal grove so they could play them every year? because they almost never won a game in that league!
