kid who missed a day of practice had to make up each day missed with about 15 minutes of extra conditioning. if you were sick, hurt ,out of town, @ church camp,or on vacation. the same rule applied to all the boys. woodard didn't think it applied to him. so he never came back. I think it was a fair rule

Disagree. This kid was not on the beach getting a tan, he was actually trying to improve as an athlete. All of those other reasons I would say i agree with but not if it was because of another sport. You are implying that kids should only play football, and at any school with only 200-250 boys you should be willing to work with multi-sport athletes.

You can't tell that in the two weeks he missed conditioning he couldn't have made to any sessions at all. he didn't want to play to begin with. I don't remember seeing him at weightings none time all summer. even kids that were hurt made up the time. it took like fifteen minutes after practice to do. it wasn't like running a marathon. lol

I disagree with the disagree. If you don't enforce the rule for a reason as good as bettering his self as an athlete then you cannot enforce the rule with those who are beach tanning, attending church camp, or any other reason. All student athletes have to be held to the same standard. If for no other reason than the parents of today. If exceptions would have been made for Woodard then the parent of the child "beach tanning" because that was the only time they could schedual vacation, has an arguement. I applaude the SP coach for sticking by his rule and if that student athlete, "who should have been in great shape from playing another sport right up to football time" doesnt want to do a little extra make up then he didn't really want to play in the first place and is using the coach as an excuse. Trust me this happens everywhere. The same type of thing happened at VC this year.

he is in great shape and was told before conditioning even started that he would be going to the state tournament and even replied to have him miss baseball pratice to condition. i can understand him wanting to make pratice a main priority for our athletes. but please ask tell me why they are asking soccor players to quite and come play football when the season has already started is that good coaching. our programs our falling quickly at south point and school board is to blame for it they hired the wrong guy to rebulid our program what do we have 4 yrs experience as a coaching staff. all of our sports are down we dont even have a jv baseball any more. when i played we played for pride where is it at now. i am and will always be a pointer fan but losing at south point is not an option we are becomming the symmes valley of the old days. play them on homecomming to get the win

What in the world does Woodard not playing have to do with this game? But anyway, I agree that if he made all the kids who missed for whatever reason make it up then they should all have to! I was at the practices and my son had to make up a few days. He did it in like 15-20 minutes. Every day there were kids making it up and kids who just wanted more conditioning doing in voluntarily doing it! It wasn't a big deal and wasn't that hard. My fat butt could have done it ....might have taken a a whole lot longer but it wasn't like running a mile to two straight! LOL

Agreed. This is a discussion about someone who quit the team! Buckeye, if you really want your sports programs to succeed, support the coaches who ask the best of their players. If I ever told my mom I wasn't doing extra conditioning she would have whipped my rear end. According to Buckeye, it's the coach's fault that kids choose not to accept conditioning. Sounds like the coach is doing his job. It's a good way to get the boy hurt, too, by not conditioning. And to think a baseball player can walk onto a football practice conditioned is somewhat absurd if the player has been strictly baseball.
