Weather could be a factor in this game, with rain looking like more and more of a possibility during the game it could effect the outcome drastically.

The Dawgs better water down the practice field to get ready for this one...
Re: Week 7: Athens (5-1)(1-0) @ Alexander (3-3)(1-0)
Yep better water down practice field, cause spartans know how to play in the mud, real football is playing in the wet grass and mud, not carpet. Had say it..

Re: Week 7: Athens (5-1)(1-0) @ Alexander (3-3)(1-0)
Athens by at least 60. also Warren has only won 2 games, Watkins 1 game, and Jackson at 3-3 is not your normal year end and year out powerhouse this year. So the wins over those teams although nice but not as big as most think.

Pretty stout schedule for Watkins greatone ... put them in most leagues in southeastern Ohio and their record would be far different.
Licking Heights (6-0) L 12-13
Athens (5-1) L 54-62
Mifflin (5-1) L 20-25
Mount Vernon (5-1) L 21-34
Big Walnut (4-2) L 14-27
The three losses by Jackson are to teams a combined 15-3 ... Athens (5-1), Granville (5-1), Wheelersburg (5-1)
Warren (2-4) ... has lost to Philo (5-1), Athens (5-1), Jackson (3-3) and Meadowbrook (3-3)
WINS AND LOSSES CAN BE VERY DECEIVING ... BISHOP WATTERSON IS JUST (3-3) - BUT LETS SEE HOW THEY FARE AGAINST IRONTON TOMORROW ... I MEAN, THEY'RE JUST A .500 TEAM? PROBABLY NOT THAT GOOD, RIGHT?

One of the best posts I've read this season. Again, facts are hard to dispute. And we all know, opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one, and they stink. I think that the facts speak for themselves. I really do not see this game being close, even with the weather.93Bulldog wrote:Pretty stout schedule for Watkins greatone ... put them in most leagues in southeastern Ohio and their record would be far different.

Good luck to both teams tonight and I hope it’s an injury free game. I think Athens may be a little too much for Alex but hoping my OLD School can pull off the upset.
GO ALEX!!!!!!!
GO ALEX!!!!!!!

Without the rain moving in and muddying the field up, the Dogs will score early and often. All Athens.

Rain/poor weather nearly always favors the underdog and with the style of offense the Bulldogs run that would most certainly be the case, doesn't mean there will be an upset but it could have an effect for sure.

Forcast for 7:00 P.M.
Partly cloudy ... 69 degrees ... 10% chance of rain.
pretty much perfect weather in Athens County tonight.

Nearly time for this cross county rivalry to get started, I'm hopeful for a good clean hard hitting injury free game. Good luck Dogs!

I would think that it is safe for one to assume that this 64 point point differential in the final score may finally put to rest any questions of the statue in Albany. Or am I wrong?

Athens was firing on all cylinders tonight, the offense was crisp, the defense was solid aside from a couple of big plays by the Spartans. I will say that the Spartans impressed me in a few ways tonight, Guage Miller (sp?) is a very good football player that could play and contribute on any of the area teams and nearly all of Southeastern Ohio, second the Spartan players played hard and didn't give up on any plays all the way through the game, and lastly the Alexander fans were awesome, the stands remained nearly full along with most of the fans lining the fense staying all the way to the final whistle which wouldn't happen in 98% of the schools across the country and all of Spartan land should hold their heads high.
