I feel bad for him but it's something that happens. Is this 100% fact?

They had a board meeting Monday evening so that could be when it happened, now the big question, who can they get that wants the job? Will Amyx throw his hat back in the ring until he retires from his school job? Interesting time at Logan

It's hard to tell. If they hire a coach from out of the area maybe not. We will all see soon i guess.

I would highly doubt it considering some of the stuff that was alleged to have ocurred this past year and the fact they were wanting him out, but if the next coach insists on it who knows, that would be about the only way I could imagine.

No way they clean out the whole staff. They can't bring in that many new teachers or qualified outsiders in our area. Logan doesn't have the money for it. Plus the new coach is going to need some of the current coaches. Rarely is a whole staff wiped out when a head coach is let go. We have some quality coaches on staff who tried to get Kelly to go in a different direction. I am just worried about hiring a local, can't think of one who I would want as a "HEAD" coach. Let's hope the admin gives it a real effort and brings in a real disciplinarian that will shut the parents up and demand discipline from our boys in every way. Starting with the weight room right away! By the way Amyx is out too many medical problems from all his years of football and wrestling. You can count him out. Also hope we don't go with a relative of an admin. who has minimal experience. Let's bring someone in who has proven themselves to be able to turn a program around. I don't want us to be someone's first try at it. The pressure is now on our admin and they have their work cut out for them! Who would even want to come to Logan to coach? We are a fare weather bunch and all we do is criticize and care about our own children playing, whether they should or not. It is time for a change in so many ways here. Hope the new coach has what it takes to bring Logan Football back to it's former glory. Go chiefs!

With Logan having as many boys as they do in the upper three grades it would seem like a very good coach could see about 65/70 boys going out. Seems like that would be a dream for a coach in this area. If the program starts out with a winner the lower grades will build from it real quick. I hope they can keep Kelly because he is a very good back coach. They need to work on getting a defensive coach.

Sadly, this is almost any school district anymore. It's not just a Logan problem.

I know nothing of any allegations of anything. Favoritism happens in any program. Parents should encourage their kids if they want to compete but they need to keep their noses out of the program if that was the problem. All I could see was what was on the field and after three years, it just wasn't enough and it wasn't getting better. I'm sure Kelly is a fine person and I feel for him now. I doubt he would want to come back as an assistant but who knows. Anyway, that will be for him and the new regime to decide. Right now what is needed is Football 101; The Fundamentals. Discipline and hard work. Also, if I were a coach coming in, I'd be working hard with the lower classes and the feeder programs to make them feel more a part of the whole system. No, I don't mean the coach needs to attend/assist Tomahawks but rather have them come in and consult with the program. Here's to better days for the program.

My thoughts are with Coach Wolfe and his staff today. Wolfe has been with Logan as a player and a coach since 1985. Most of the staff has been with Logan for over 5 years, some as long as 20 years. Today is a sad day for the program. What coach in their right mind would come to a place where the inmates run the assylum? Coaches cant coach at Logan because too many parents are allowed to control what goes on within programs. I'd like to see where they are going to find a more dedicated group of coaches, the SAME coaches that were with Amyx, to fill the holes that will surely be there. Do you think a mojority of the current staff would even want to be a part of it after seeing how this played out? I doubt it. Why would Wolfe even want to stay? Read the article in the LDN. He was blindsided. Why is that??? My guess is things arent always what they seem. Logan needs to let coaches coach, and let parents be PARENTS. Not fotball coaches. Best of luck to the football staff, but I dont know who they are going to get that will be as dedicated. My son is in the program and had alot of respect for the coaches who coached him and he is upset. You cant have the good without some bad. The talent level isnt what it was when Amyx left. He knew what was coming and got out. Taking away someone's job because of hard times is insane in this case. Wolfe dedicated his adult life to Logan and they didnt return his dedication. I hope they find what they are looking for.

Go Chiefs!

Timing is everything as they sometimes say, and whoever the new coach may be is going to come into some talent no doubt about it. Have seen your 7th-Frosh levels play and they were very competitive. Next year will have a pretty talented sophomore group to go along with the juniors and seniors. My bet is in 2 years the new coach looks like a genius. Best of luck to your program which is has a great history.

As an outsider looking in, IMO this had to be done. Wolfe was a good offense coach. If I remember right, he took over as Offensive Coordinator when Patrick Angle, etc played and put in the spread offense. Just think how much better the 1999-2001 teams would have been under that system.

Defense has been the biggest problem since Amyx left. Also, the number of boys that either never went out and the number that have quit the team (some were starters) had to be a major concern. Good position coaches don't always make good head coaches. I would like to see them get back on track. Good luck.

I'll echo a few comments on here.

First, I want to thank Coach for his hard work and dedication to Logan Football. I have no doubt that over the last three years, as frustrated as I and other fans have been with the on-field product, Coach Wolfe and his staff felt that frustration times ten. These men dedicate their lives to this program. That should not be ignored.

Coach Wolfe will always be a Chieftain legend. He was part of the group that helped the purple and white rise from the ashes in the mid-80s under Coach Perry. The early '80s, similar to the last 3 years, were a bad time for Logan football. The on-field product was poor and the league was falling apart. Coach Wolfe is still the Chieftains all-time leading rusher, he joined the staff after a great college career, and was a part of the staff as LHS reached unprecedented heights from 1998-2009. Those things will, and should, not be forgotten.

With all that said, I can understand the decision made by the Superintendent and the BOE. It's a tough job to let anyone go, especially someone as dedicated as Coach Wolfe. I know it was not an easy decision, and now that its made, it's time to move forward. Just like I supported and would have continued to support Coach Wolfe and this staff, I will support the next head coach and his staff.

I will say this, whoever the next Coach is needs to know that he's in charge and can run the program his way. I know at times that parents felt this coaching staff was vulnerable, so they felt comfortable complaining to administrators. This didn't happen under previous staffs because parents knew the admins would back the coach regardless. The next coach needs that backing.
