Re: SOC II - 2013
My understanding is the count they did in October of 2010 is good for the 2011-2012 seasons and the 2012-2013 seasons. I am not sure if they are recounting now since they are adding a Division 7 or still using the enrollment numbers from 2010.fbnut wrote:Burgs listed at 155, not sure when they recount.
Jackson at 295 and will be smallest DIII school or a larger DIV school depending on what they do and what our numbers are.

Those are the old enrollment numbers. I believe the count was performed in October, which will be what is used to determine the divisions the next 2 years. The division breakdown above was for current enrollment numbers and will change slightly once the count is completed to allow the same number of teams to be in the lower 6 divisions. So, until the new count numbers are released, we won't know the exact cut-off numbers for the divisions.

I think Burg and Valley have to be looked at as the early favorites, but Minford is right on their heels and the Siders return some nice players. I saw earlier in the thread that they believe Valley will improve at the QB spot, but I'm not so sure. I've seen the Rolfe kid and I think he has BIG TIME ability and will be a force the next year or so. I just think he'll experience some growing pains next year. While he may throw the ball better than Howard, Howard's toughness and leadership were on display the 3 or 4 times I watched the Indians last season. The rest of their team looks extremely solid, even with the loss of Hettinger.
Burg's skill players and their offense will give everyone problems next season. I worry about them up front and I think teams will be able to run the ball on them.
Minford is one of those teams that I believe will run the ball on the Pirates and everyone else next season. They return the top lineman in the league and a deep stable of RB. The Stapleton kid is solid at QB, but I don't believe in their passing game. Of course there is time for it to improve and if you run it well enough, you don't have to throw the ball. One area that may hurt Minford is the loss of their corner's. Those were two big athletic kids that made throwing the ball down the field tough on their opponents.
It's really the same story every year for the Siders. If they have an explosive back and develop linemen they are tough to beat. The problem lately has been a defense that has taken a step back and the inability to throw the ball when teams sell out against the run. You can't count them out, but I feel they are clearly behind Burg Valley and Minford going into this offseason.
Waverly and Northwest--- I really hope both teams improve. I don't know what Waverly returns or what they have coming up through the ranks but the SOC is better when they are a factor. Honestly there is no reason that a school of their size with their tradition is not more competitive on a yearly basis. Hopefully that starts happening for the Tigers. The Mohawks on the other hand are just counting down the days to SOC I and their 8th grade class gaining varsity experience. I expect the Mohawks to go winless in league play again and struggle against the SOC I schools in their out of conference matchups. I wish Coach Frye the best of luck but he's fighting an uphill battle.

Looks like Valley will be in D6 and Burg will be in D5 so these teams deff won't see each other in the playoffs, I see the winner of this game at Ed Miller stadium wears the crown of the SOC II
Re: SOC II - 2013
Wheelersburg will be loaded. This is the first year in a long time that there are competition for positions. If you don't get the job done you will be replaced! Good times ahead for the pirates just like old times!!!!!!!

Re: SOC II - 2013
It might be nothing more than a pipe dream at this point......but man, that's definitely an awesome thought!!! I would love to see both teams develope enough over the course of the year to make a run deep enough into the playoffs to each win a Regional Title. After that, anything is possible!! Here's to wishing the absolute BEST to the entire SOC 2!! As has been said numerous times already, this league is going to be as strong this year as it has been in quite a long time and that should bode well for the top 2-4 teams (depending on non-league success, computer points, etc) come playoff time. But, it should be a fun season in the SOC this year!!!PirateFan2 wrote:That might be a good thing that Burg is in D5 an Valley at D6?????
