Maybe this has been posted before, but Burrow has been upgraded to 4 Star. Troy Smith was also a 4 star. Zwick was a 4 star, but the country's #3 pro style qb.

Burrow will be red shirted not Gibson. I still can't see him making the field but as they have said if you want a quality education and to at least dress he'll be fine. barrett is a better quarterback at this point and will have a huge year of college ball under his belt which is a big plus. Miller? may come back and take over but I doubt it.

If he would change his mind he can do better than OU. He doesn't need to say "I'm going big time" and turn around and take a step down. If he is going to go somewhere it should be a major college even if he has to leave Ohio.With the right QB coach this young man can be watched on Sundays in the future.

We only saw Troy Smith because Justin Zwick got hurt in the game versus Iowa. Troy Smith was initially listed as a kick returner when he was at Ohio State. That offensive line was terrible in 2004, Smith was advantageous based on his running ability and ability to make plays out of nothing.

I had heard rumor that Joe was looking at Auburn as well, though he says he's not. I would LOVE to be able to watch this young man play football close to home in Athens for OU. But I think he is made for bigger things. Time will tell I guess.

Back to the topic, I hope it works out for Burrow. But I think he's got a tough row to hoe. He could be the best QB in offseason and be "good enough" to lead the team, but how would he compare marketing wise to Miller, Barrett, and now even Gibson.

We have no idea what "kind" of quarterback Urban recruits for. He didn't recruit Alex Smith nor did he recruit Chris Leak. He did recruit Cam Newton, however.

Marketing and hype plays too much of a role in college football today. If Burrow was a 5-star from DeLaSalle, DeSoto, St Edward's or Southlake Carroll (whatever the name of that Texas school Colt McCoy graduated from is) there'd be tons of excitement outside of southern Ohio for Burrow. I think he's a great QB and college material, but there's too many instances of other schools' starters being the 2nd or 3rd string backup QB on Ohio State's roster (ie Schoenhoft, Henton) or cases such as Kenny Guiton.

When you come to one of the top programs in the country, you're going to have to beat out stiff competition for the job. Burrow has the tools to be the starting quarterback at Ohio State in a couple of years. I hope he doesn't let the doubters get him down.

You obviously know what it takes to be a college QB better than Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. You'd think someone with Athens In their user name would've seen Burrow play. You clearly haven't.

It is my opinion that Burrow could start at OSU right now and be there best QB. However that is not important right now and I hope he and his team are focused on D3 high school playoffs only at this point and not reading this bullcrap on here

I for one am not counting out the young man from Athens, given what I have seen (which is just glimpses here and there) playing at any school, OSU included. He has the god-given talent and ability and clearly a motor that drives him to work very hard.

Very similar to the young man from Jackson going to Stanford.

Two kids going to premier programs, and the my guess is depending on what kind a post-season some of the other local seniors have we may see some other schools offer up to these student athletes. Quite a few D1 and D2 players in SE Ohio will start the second season this weekend.

Like everyone else OSU is going to play now and in the future the guy who gives them the best chance of success. There is so much that goes into playing this position at an elite level and to be able to win ball games against this kind of competition. Most people are unaware of all the intangibles that all great QBs have. Its not all about elite athleticism.
Joe Burrow is one of the best,if not the best,young QBs I have ever seen around here and I have seen more than most that gets on here. He is grounded and mature also.The one technical weakness that he has at times that I have noticed that will HAVE to be cleaned up is that sometimes he has the fatal flaw of getting L and L.(LONG and LOW) I am sure the coaches will clean his release up and he will do just fine.
