I agree Purplesage it will be closer than expected but I believe Ironton will prevail late.
Ironton is big and strong and has improved since the first game and the teams they played this year helped them prepare for this.
Have a safe trip and hope both teams come out injury free.

Just figured long ride would be tough, but Ironton always has those long trips I the playoffs. Sounds like Tigers will have their hands full and then some. Could be a high scoring afair. With Burris and Pallidino getting a lot of touches, this might be a record setting game. ELECTRIFYING!! Hopefully whoever comes out of this ahead wins the region.

Looks like MF scores about 33 a game
And Ironton about 32 a game.
Should be a dandy!!

oh yes, this'll be a game where 4 TDs won't be enough for either team to secure a 'W'

some big defensive plays from Martins Ferry will be necessary for a win.

Ironton can't sleep on Burress. He's in the highlights on TV every week.

This is what separates the team that are playing this week and the ones getting the BB's out. All the teams are good at this point. That's why I love Ohio playoffs compared to other states. You better play well every week if u want to be playing week 11.

Why do you always say Ironton has improved since the first game?? Most all teams approve from the first game of a season...

Looks like Martins Ferry has a hard nosed RB #3 and a quick one in #10, we better wrap #3 up or he'll bust free and be gone, looks like they have some pretty good Receivers too.

Some teams improve more than others as the season goes on. Some teams decline. Last year Ironton was like a roller coaster from week to week hence the 3-7 record. This year Ironton improved from game to game. They are a much better team week 11 than week 1.

I'm probably going to be the only one saying this but I believe ironton has only improved slightly on offense. Defensively they still give up yards and scores. And from what most tiger fans have said all year that they have costly penalties. This game will actually disprove my theory, if tigers win this one soundly. I think they win 35-28

TRH wrote:Ironton has a history with Martins Ferry. Coach Bob Bruney is from Martins Ferry. He coached the I Tigers from the mid 60's until the 1971 season when they went 9-1 with players like of Hal Spears, Rick Boykin, Bobby Smith, Jim Payne, Dick Fisher, Davis Malone and Mike Albrink. He returned to his alma mater as head coach and later as athletic director. The 1978 Tigers traveled to Martins Ferry for a scrimmage game that included a cookout etc. They came to Ironton in 1979 and we returned the favor. When two historic river towns meet, anything goes. I like the Tigers in this one primarily because of the home field advantage.
I remember the games.i likey coach bruney.
and you are right about historic programs. does martin's ferry still have the covered home side.
when I said that they had only beaten 2 teams with winning records. that was just a fact according to joe eitel. but like I said, they are 9-1 for some reason. this should be a knock down drag out.

Has MF played a pound the ball team? If so, how'd they do?
What's their MO? Running,passing or a mix?
GO TIGERS!!
Already been on a couple of those extended bus journeys so not an issue!!! Most teams up here are pound the ball teams so that's not an issue!!!! We are a mixed "big play" offense but out of the basic 3 or 4 run sets!!! Scoring can come quickly or we can drive it down the field and use up some clock!!! Arjay Burris RB has a little over 1700 yds rushing so he's a decent threat !!!! But the defense is the real deal here rock solid!!! After spotting St. Clairsville 14 in like 58 seconds we proceeded to just stonewall them for the rest of the game!!!! If Ironton is their usual tough bunch this will be a close and interesting game!!!!
welcome friend, this should be a great one.

I took some time to follow that link and watched the game reviews from their local news station. They look like the real deal. Very balanced running attack and a capable quarterback. I believe rajay Burress, #3, is a division one prospect. They mentioned urban meyer was in town for the mf and stc. game to meet some folks. Stc has a stud running back aurban wants bad. Martin's Ferry will be a challenge for the tigers. I believe the tigers will win if they eliminate the penalties and giving the opponent the ball at midfield. That would be disastrous with these runners and level of talent Ferry has.
Take the time to watch the videos. Youll see the balance im talking about.

Because Burg smoked em. They cannot admit defeat even when you get taken to the wood shed.
