No. He is not back and won't officially be back this year. He showed up at the field house Friday night for the second half and he showed up at practice for a few minutes. But no. He is not back.

Rooting for the TVC but I think Valley will be too strong.

This will be the second all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Indians. NY won the first meeting in the 1998 playoffs at Athens High School by a score of 21-14. That was the only loss on the season for Valley that year, as the Indians entered the game 10-0 and finished 10-1. That was also the last playoff game NY has won since then.

NY leads all-time series 1 win, 0 losses

1998 Nelsonville-York (N) 21-14

Just curious if the coach is ill, or why is he out? Thanks, and good luck to both teams. Go Bucks!

He had major heart surgery a few days after the Portsmouth West loss. He is recovering well. But is unable to coach from a sideline right now.

Glad he's doing well! Coaching football sure isn't a low-stress gig.

Haven't been to LV before. Any info on the stadium? looks nice on Google Earth. How big are the visiting stands? NY generally travels well, and often times it gets a little cramped, depending on the weather.

Any decent places to eat?

Thanks in advance.

Not much to eat actually in Lucasville. If you come all the way 32 to 23 there are a few places in Waverly (4 miles or so out of the way) and a place in Piketon (on the way). If you are not in a time crunch and don't make it to Scioto county on a regular basis (and who does) I would drive the extra 15-20 minutes and head to Portsmouth to eat The Ribber. One of the best steaks around.

Indian Stadium is a really nice facility. Parking is good, but huge crowds can make getting out a problem. There is a large lot for tailgating behind the tennis courts. Vistor bleachers aren't terribly large, but I would still venture to guess it holds about what NY's home side does based on playing there the last two seasons. Valley always brings a large crowd but there are never very "rowdy". :122245 :122245

All and all, hard to top Valley for a first round playoff site.

I don't like when locals have to play locals, because somebody gets knocked out. but hey that's where you get high school rivalries at.

I can't see how you could consider this 2 local teams aging each other.....

I am obviously in the minority here but I don't think NY is that much of an underdog in this one and I expect a close score.

Might be wrong and it is a 2-score plus Valley win (which seems to be the consensus reading above), but for some reason something tells me this one will come down to the 4th quarter.

Good luck to both squads.

I have a feeling this will be a tight game and no one can accurately predict an outcome...it seems NY played Athens tough for a while but without being at the game it's hard to get a sense of what really occurred. Hoping the Indians are healthy for a push...

Hard to predict if you only see one team play. I wasn't however impressed with the Indians. NY could very well win this game.

You got to see the Indians the week after their first loss in 4 years, in a dead stadium, one day after their coach had a 4 way by-pass. Yet even with all that, they held your team to negative yards through 3 quarters and the quarterback set the single game td pass record.

I could set a record in this game.....
