if ironton comes to play (and they will i predict) , no turnovers , no stupid penalty, a good mix of run/pass!!!
then this will be jackson toughests game to date!!!!!!!

Re: Week 9: (6-1) Ironton @ (8-0) Jackson
Ironton was beat by wheelersburgs ability to contain Irontons rushing attack. Jackson D is better than Burgs, they are the best I've seen this year. Ironton doesn't need to give the "we are a much better team" speech. What is in ironton's favor, is both teams play the same smash mouth style. If the game is penalty, and turnover free this game will scoot along quickly. Look for a 14-7 Jackson lead into half, and then pull away to 28-7 win. If ironton can get a few stops, then ironton could upset Jackson.

Thanks!!! :122246Viking96 wrote:You're Tiger Bait wrote:all I can say is I hope the young fighting tiger players that are reading this----------that they print it out , n put it on the wall. the fighting tigers play big games all season long.they beat a d2 Columbus st. Charles team that only lost to hartley by 3 points. the fighting tigers know this is a game they can win. secondary play will have to play better, and silly penalties are flat killing us. go into Jackson with a big chip of disrespect on your shoulders and show Jackson that we play very physical football in ironton--------trust me they already know.[/quote
Nice try bait , this jackson team has been doubted all season.
Early season predictions 5-5...
After Wellston = line not dominant, wellston was much faster , jackson wins 5 games.
After waverly = offense can't score , we can't throw the ball
West Jeff and Ready= jackson can't stop the spread
Wheelersburg = burg must too fast. This burg team is better than last years
Logan= Logan has played a tougher schedule
Now ironton = one of the winningest programs in Ohio history.
Jackson has answered the bell every Friday. Now it's well Jackson's good but Athens will hang 60 on them. Athens deserves all the praise they are awesome. But jackson can play some football too. Many think ironton wins this game.
If any team should have a chip on their shoulder it's Jackson. Play hard and punish everyone who dares to try to run on you. Remember all the doubters and haters. And to take a quote from Dan Devine from the movie Rudy, " no one and I mean no one comes into our house and pushes us around

Re: Week 9: (6-1) Ironton @ (8-0) Jackson
I agree turnovers will be a big Key but Discipline will be bigger for the Tigers.doubleplay643 wrote:I am not seeing anywhere close to a 21 point game here either in favor of Jackson or in favor of Ironton.
Ironton has made some pretty big improvements since Week 1, very big and physical team sort of like Logan, and Logan won the first quarter and a 1/3. Ironton will I think be very much like that but through all of the game and not just a quarter or half.
Turnovers and discipline be a very big part of this game I think and maybe even the kicking game or special teams and the ability to make a field goal or two will be important.
Just my opinion...been wrong plenty of times before.
Far to many penalties this late in the year.
Ironton will need to play perfect football to win can they that is the question to be sure.
Jackson is far from overrated they are everything as advertised and more big strong and quick.
St. Charles wasn't as big but they was extremely quick and strong.
Jackson seems to be Big quick and strong Ironton's best chance is control the ball and clock and hope their big linemen can wear Jackson down.
Not saying they will but Ironton has some very talented 300 pound linemen that can hit and their Fullbacks can not only block but run and catch the ball as well.
Like I said it will take a perfect game from Ironton to win.
Can they do it Friday Night we shall find out.
Could be the game of the week in Southeastern Ohio with so much riding on seeding for each team GO TIGERS LET"S HEAR YOU ROAR

Re: Week 9: (6-1) Ironton @ (8-0) Jackson
i think ironton has improved greatly as the season has gone along. especially along the offensive line. jackson is solid all the way around. they are big and strong, and they tackle very very well and well coached. i think ironton hangs around early, but jackson is a big strong div. iii team, and ironton is not anymore. they are just not deep enough, jackson wears them down and this ends up around 35-14 or even worse by the time its over.

My god there are a lot of NON-Jackson people on here trying to jinx up Jackson. Everyone...EVERYONE in Jackson knows this will be quite the game. No one in the SE District has ever looked past or not respected Ironton.
Jackson will need to play well in all aspects of the game and win the turnover battle to remain unbeaten. Ironton's gonna bring it and we'll be waiting.

Re: Week 9: (6-1) Ironton @ (8-0) Jackson
i think things are getting back to normal at ironton after the culture shock of coach bob lutz retiring. they are now playing very physical football the beatings they took the last 2 years have turned this team into a monster as well. some of those games they lost the last 2 years were to amazing opponents and we were right there in them.
ironton will match up with anybody they play sizewise. and are getting much better tackling and blocking. secondary is gonna have to lock it down a little better. and we are going to have to handle the rock. if we are able to play ball control offense, and eliminate silly penalties this is gonna be a knockdown, dragout ironton/Jackson game that resembles those of old.i have great respect for both these programs. when i coached grade school football in the rock hill school system, coach andy hall was coaching rock hill's varsity team. we got to work a couple of football camps together there at rock hill. he is a very passionate football coach, and i knew he'd be a success.he's done an amazing job of getting ironman football back on track.
coach vaas came into a situation really nobody and everybody wanted. wanting to coach one of the most storied football programs in the whole state, yet having the enourmous task of following Ohio's winningest high school football coach in bob lutz.and the 2 schedules he had those 2 years to follow were brutal.but they hung tough and kept on keeping on. after a very tough loss to a wheelersburg team week 1in which they were right there the first half. they ran out of gas the second half. many were left thinking the fighting tigers would have another long year, myself included. but then what happened was the beast within woke up. they have been playing great football since. with several really big wins under their belt.they now resemble ironton teams of old, and they are clicking on most all cylinders.i'm sure everybody in both school systems realize that Jackson is a much bigger school, and Jackson is the favorite. but this game will be a great measuring stick as to where ironton has risen to. Jackson will be everywhere as elite as the upper level d5 teams we'll face in the playoffs , if that happens. so as far as ironton is concerned the playoffs start Friday night in Jackson.that being followed by a once beaten raceland, ky team. so i look for this to be a barn burner if ironton plays fundamentally sound football.i look for this to be the best opponents either have faced this year. and it will be a great gauge for both as to where they are 2 weeks away from playoffs.i sure hope i get to come, my truck is broken down. has been for 3 weeks. and let's face it not many people from waverly are heading towards Jackson Friday night. i may have a neighbor or 3 i can talk into it.but I've listened to everyone of them I've missed. i loves my fighting tigers. this should be an ole fashioned slobber knockers, button them chinstraps tight ironmen, and fighting tigers. GO TIGERS GO.

Re: Week 9: (6-1) Ironton @ (8-0) Jackson
I believe Jackson has already got a share of the SEOAL title with 3 wins and no losses with one game remaining in league play.
