I didn't see this thread anywhere, then I post a new thread and this one pops up, WEST should win this game. They are the healthiest they have been and now their offense is looking like it could be quite explosive on the ground and through the air. Having John Berry back on the defense made their already tough defense way better against perimeter runs and the pass.

One factor you may not be considering is that against NW, Minford defense allowed the Mohawks to -27 yards, so the defense showed up. Minford's offense had 7 turnovers in the first half. If the Falcons cut out that nonsense, then it is a dominating win against the Mohawks. Same can be said for the S. Point game. Now entering league play, hopefully Minford has the TO bug out of their system and can take better care of the ball.

Minford had 7 turnovers against NW in the first half? That's incredibly hard to believe! Typo??

That's according to the WNXT announcer, "7 turnovers in the half," and/or muffed C/QB exchanges. The Falcons fumbled into the endzone from the 2 yard line with a lineman falling on the ball, for the TD, to end the first half 13-0. I'm telling ya, they cut this out and they'll be competitive in the SOCII this year.

That's 9 processions in a 24 minute half with 7 turnovers and 2 touchdowns assuming they didn't punt! I just about have to see a verifying link from somewhere before I'm believing that.

No it's not9 possessions, b/c one actually counted for a touchdown. I did say 7 turnovers. Just 7 fumbles. My mistake.

Ok let's take it from the top

You clearly said 7 turnovers. If Minford had a lineman recover a fumble then they clearly had possession of the ball that ultimately ended in a touchdown. So that indeed takes us back 9 possessions. I'm still not buying it though.

Bottom line: You can't except to win a ball game putting the ball on the ground that often.
Portsmouth Daily Times wrote: The Minford Falcons (3-1) are coming off a 25-0 win over the Northwest Mohawks. However, the game wasn’t as easy as the final score indicates. The Falcons fumbled the ball five times.
Daily times reported 5, WNXT announcer reported 7.

80 percent chance of rain Friday. Used to look forward to rain because we never threw the ball. Now we throw it quite a bit.

I think West has a speed advantage. Minford has a size advantage. Wonder what effect substantial rain would have on the game?

From the sound of Minford posters, Minford has trouble holding onto the football...The rain won't help them in that area...Advantage West in the monsoon...

      But this is all true. I was there. It was bad. I remember turning around and telling the group of Mule Towners that they have very little chance of winning an SOCII game if they play like that. The QB/C exchange was embarrassing.

Another note, Minford had the ball @ the 30 to start the last drive of the half. it took them 10 plays to score on the fumble recovery in the endzone. If not for the fumble, I am wondering if they would have scored at all.

On a positive note, Minford has a good punt returner. He may be a little too brave, but I like it.

Throwing the ball and completing them is two different stories. West has yet to complete passes against a good team on a regular basis.

Other than the Newark Catholic game, West's completion percentage has been really good. Also one of the two best receivers was out till last week.

Regardless no team is going to throw the ball well on a wet grass field in the rain; which was the original thought.

What does it matter it took Minford 10 plays to score and wonder if not for a fumble recovery for a td, if they would be able to score. I thought with Minford's offense and most offenses out there. If you could grind out many plays on possession, to gain a td, wouldn't you be controlling the clock and wearing out your opponent instead of quick scores allowing plenty of time for your opponents to answer.
It should be a good game in Minford, but I'm rooting for the Falcons 21-14.

It wasn't controlling the clock at all. Trust me. It was lack of execution.

Good luck to both. Regardless the perennial powerhouse of Minford will go down Friday.
