9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
Re: 9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
I would keep the ball in Ironton's QB hands! The kid is a stud. Good luck Itown!!
Re: 9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
Saw Amanda in the jamboree vs Washington CH. They are big and physical also. The QB is very good and they have a couple of good backs. They also have good team speed.
The defense swarmed to the ball. They threw the ball more then I expected to see them.
Very well coached team.

The Tigers won last years meeting 14-7, wonder how many starters the Aces return from last year?

That doesn't mean a whole lot if they cant block. They looked awesome vs Russell cause Russell isn't very good, but against Burg that huge line didn't do very good in the second half. Last year against CC Ironton ran the ball hard and wore out the defense. You could see the CC defenders getting tired in the second half. Can Ironton do that this year without wearing themselves out in the process?

hard to believe that it is already week 3 ya'll. if the fighting tigers play up to their potential. I predict they leave the pit at 2-1.have a great game fighting tigers. let's keep this rolling
GO TIGERS GO.
GO TIGERS GO.

Much cooler weather than week 1 will help the big Ironton linemen, but I still think they need a break from playing both ways.

Lets think about this logically on this forum we have talked and talked about the smaller enrollment for Ironton. How they don't have the talent they used to have because the towns smaller, and all that stuff. Yet a lot of you guys are saying we need to get away from playing both ways and need more guys to play and everything. Does anyone not see the contradiction here beside me?
Re: 9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
My logic for not playing both ways is because they are out of shape. A gassed 6'5", 300 lb. lineman is not of any more value than a 5'11", 200 lb. lineman in the 4th quarter. Maybe the smaller guys could actually perform better if they have some desire to prove themself. At any rate, having the big guys with some legs left in the second half could result in another score.tigercannon71 wrote:4th n Goal wrote:Much cooler weather than week 1 will help the big Ironton linemen, but I still think they need a break from playing both ways.

Re: 9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
Heres the thing. Back in the 80's and 90's the difference between a 1st string and 2nd string guy wasn't much. Our 2nd string could beat a lot of varsity teams themselves. Now days the difference between 1st and 2nd is huge. We are lucky to have 11 starters let alone 2 or 3 other guys that can step in without missing a beat. As has been mentioned talent level isn't there anymore. Theres a huge drop off when you get past the starters. Wouldn't it be better to get the guys in shape before the season starts so they can go both ways? That's a coaches and players responsibility. As for smaller guys desire to prove themselves they should have that already.

Re: 9/12 - Ironton (1-1) @ Amanda CC (2-0)
I will go out on a limb here and say Ironton moves to 2-1 after this contest.
If they can string together 4 quarters like the first two they played against Wheelersburg they are more than capable of winning this game at Amanda. The weather and two additional weeks of practice and conditioning since that game should help them out.
Ironton needs to try and get the ball in space to Palladino on some screens, jet sweeps or quick pitches and see if they can break something big and garner some offensive momentum.
The Tigers are on right path and think they grind out a win against Amanda.
