I know the junior class is loaded but how are the classes behind them?chicken_coop wrote:And if youre gonna get Valley, better do it this year....ive heard they only have like 5 or 6 seniors?
If they get the 2 big boys back on the line...they have a shot at thier 4th straight SOC2 title.
SOC 2 predictions?

Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Valley has did great lately and they have to be given the benefit of the doubt until they are beaten. But these things usually work in sine waves. It has to go down eventually.
According to others, the freshman and sophomore classes aren't very good. I know middle school is middle school, but I saw the 7th and 8th now and they are bad. Comparing them to the athletes like last night with West and Minford and there is a big difference. I know high school combines 4 grades but this has to have an effect sometime.

Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Valley has very skilled kids in junior class but will have no depth like the three previous years. The notion that they have to be had this year is laughable.
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
I dont see whats laughable. As 2 years ago when they won the SOC2, it was "Valley needs to enjoy this because no one repeats in the SOC2" Here we are 3 years later the defending 3 time champions and havent lost a regular season game in that timeframe and have gone 5-3 in the playoffs.wobycat wrote:Valley has very skilled kids in junior class but will have no depth like the three previous years. To say getting them this year is "laughable", explain why? Having 19 Seniors next year with the best QB in the area, they will have a very, very good team. I think the depth will be just fine.
And im not saying that Valley will never lose a game or anything like that, I just think they have a better chance at winning the SOC next year than they do this year, and this year theyre pretty good.

I dont put any stock into junior high, I use portsmouth as an example of that. I know a Coal Grove poster talked about how they rolled Valley and now can not touch them in H.S.Westfan wrote:Valley has did great lately and they have to be given the benefit of the doubt until they are beaten. I think players develop a lot over the freshman season, and therefore are far better players 10-12th grades. Another factor is that junior high coaches have smaller staffs, and sometimes the kids dont get as much developmental work at that age, combined with the fact that in 7th and 8th grade the kids dont take it as serious if you will.
There are a lot of factors of course, but personally I just never look at junior high scores or anything.

Re: SOC 2 predictions?
I just don't see how Valley will be better next year. They lose Loop and Brown, two tremendous ball players that play both sides of the ball. Really impressed with Loop and his ability at linebacker. And man can he break some tackles.
I don't see Valley being able to replace those two with anywhere near the quality. I suppose you can dismiss Jr. High results if you like, but anyone who is objective and knows football can see there's not a whole lot of talent coming for Valley after this year Junior class. At least not for three classes and maybe more. Valley's had a nice run and should enjoy their success this year and next.

Wolford at fullback and or tight end he already plays LB
rolfe at safety
And presto chango reloado
Quality with quality
And our coaches will develop players .... And its high school, your athletes are going to and will play both ways most of the time
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Valid points, but I also remember the phrase..."I dont know how they will replace Keller and Yates"toast wrote:I just don't see how Valley will be better next year. As far as junior high "talent" is concerned, I guess we will see how it plays out.
In the last 18 seasons:
Regular Season
154-36
Playoffs
8-8
SOC Titles
8 (5 SOC 1, 3 SOC 2)
I would bet the junior high record is far worse, but I understand what youre saying.
My point is the Valley program is fine, and will be fine.
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Anyways....back to topic. Right now Wheelersburg appears to be playing the best overall on offense, defense and special teams....West and Minford will have a say, and lets sew what Waverly does.
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Everyone said we could not replace Keller in steps arnett then they said we could not replace arnett in steps loop now your saing we can't replace loop I can't wait to see who we can not replace next year
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Laughable, because next year isn't here. Valley is a solid program with an outstanding coach. Junior high standards don't mean squat. But valley folks have to admit, they've had a talented group of kids the past three years.chicken_coop wrote:I dont see whats laughable. Re: SOC 2 predictions?
My take on the few games I've watched...if you don't disrupt Burg's timing routes and the accuracy of their passing game, then it is Burg's to win...Teams will need to play keep away and find a way to get to the QB early and often...If he has time to throw then it will be a long night.
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
As of right now..
1. Wheelersburg 4-0
2. Valley 3-1
2A. West 2-2
4. Waverly 1-3
5. Minford 0-4 (this is simply because of the struggles the Falcons have had as of late.)
Minford can play and beat any of the teams on a given night, but the SOC is DEEP right now.

Re: SOC 2 predictions?
3-way tie.
West beats Burg.
Burg beats Valley
Valley beat West.
All three of above beat Waverly and Minford.
Waverly edges out Minford or vice-versa can't decide.

Re: SOC 2 predictions?
Waverly is a dark horse and I see them winning 2 games. They beat Minford and West. It's between Burg and Valley. Week 9 will give you the Champion. Sorry for the Spoiler Alert. IMO Valley returns the long over due Crown back to Burg. They have had a good run and I am glad they had it. It's nice to see the entire SOCII chasing Valley. Only time will tell.
Re: SOC 2 predictions?
One would think after the crow that was ate in Wheelersburg this week that burg fans would be a little more level headed.Jolly P(irate) wrote:Waverly is a dark horse and I see them winning 2 games.
