That 1st 65yd pass from Cox was to #85 Campbell. :122245 Nice pass, nice catch, and some good speed to reach the end zone! Congrats Tigers!

You always have to be careful judging by scrimmages.

Still looked impressive even though it was a scrimmage. Great Start West.

Hard to judge teams by previews, but I have to say the Ironton Tigers look to be back. With that smash mouth running game and the speed to take it around the end, watch out!!

Portsmouth also looked very impressive. #1 looked like a man among boys out there!

My take: Tigers have the Dream Team! No one came close to the size, height and athletes Ironton has. Great season ahead. Will beat Burg. Peake South Point and Rock Hill are all ok but have no business playing Ironton or Portsmouth.(realize this is next year). Portsmouth looks dangerous and can score on any play but defense still needs work. Rock Hill is improved but not enough and no depth. Coal Grove controlled the 1st quarter against West and then had a melt down and went away from what worked for them. #70 came out with injury but wasnt utilized well anyway.West is fast, experienced and small, looked alot better in the 2nd quarter. Fairland is lacking several players that will be integral to their team. Probably the best QB of the night. They will be ok.

on a side note i am SHOCKED at the CG score
Our tigers are 4 real. Fairlands top back didn't play. But their qb and passing game is solid. They very well could win the ovc this yr b4 beginning a 10+ yr run by by Ironton or Portsmouth. Anyone could see the difference these 2 programs had over the current ovc teams. Heck probably the 3rd place team from the Soc whooped the best ovc team. I know this was only 2 quarters. But looked to me CG got tired and appeared to have problems with controlling their players. Anyone was there had to see what I seen. WOW.

Hats of to coaching staff of Ironton. I know we wasn't showing much but appears we are back to ironton football. Great to see.

Do you think it has anything to do with the coaching?
Without a doubt, if they come out and loose the first 2 games they could go 0-10.

My take on the preview: The teams that looked the best in order was Portsmouth, Ironton, then West. West was very disciplined and played with class. Hats off to the coaching staff!Sparks at portsmouth has also done a great job Portsmouth has some skill kids that are for real. Ironton with the 2 tight full house looked powerful. Good luck to all the teams!

My only question for Portsmouth would be there Defense, will they be able to stop much better Teams on their schedule. Chesapeake didn't seem to have much on either side of the ball. Who does Portsmouth scrimmage next?

Portsmouth West looked good, not a big Team but they are aggressive and quick to the ball, the game was close up until the last 2 minutes. West scored and then ran back an Interception with 29 seconds left to make it 19 to 6. West needs to work on their extra Points, missed two last night.

Ironton looked good on Offense, their pass Defense looked a lot better. Will the Tigers Defense be as good against a more balanced Offense such as Portsmouths.

I think all 4 Teams looked pretty good, Portsmouth, Ironton, Portsmouth West and Coal Grove.

I've been telling people about the addition of Portsmouth and ironton to the ovc , careful what you wish for. these programs are beasts that have been laying dormant for a while. but now you gotta saddle up on dem big horses. my wish is that the entire league meets up to these 2 programs, and somehow this can turn into a premiere league in the state.

I mean this with the utmost reverence, not knocking any program, or coaches, but now time to pony up. nobody locally plays schedules like ironton, Portsmouth and maybe the burg. it will show up early and often.

I was setting up by the Press Box, he slammed his helmet, mouth piece and looked liked glasses on the ground and walked to the opposite End Zone from the locker room. Everyone around me was saying it looked like he just quit, then a few minutes later he came back and picked his stuff up and stood on the sidelines.

I have watched CG play for 30 years and (IMO) there has always been a lack of discipline and respect.

Those that show no respect deserve no respect....And here we are questioning why the coaches at Coal Grove get no respect.

If we expect to receive respect from people in our lives we have to be willing to give it out first.

Fairland had at least 7 kids not dressed and one was also their best lineman in my opinion. Another was their speedy back so that hurt a lot. I think they were better that they looked.

The kid from Coal Grove did throw one huge hissie fit. I don't know who made him come back when he got to the endzone but someone did talk to him from the stands. We need to remember he is just a kid and they all do dumb things. He does however need to be punished.

I wished he could have played, I'd like the Tigers to have seen a more balanced Offense, which he would have brought to the game for Fairland.

Ironton had a few not dressed too, we were missing one of our top Lineman that plays both ways in Tyler Webb 6'5 270 (OG/DT). He should be back for the Jamboree game against Coal Grove.

I had prior arrangements last night and was not able to be at the previews but this stuff doesn't surprise me, I have been preaching this type of stuff for the past decade. I know for the past five to six years the inmates (players) have been running the asylum, they do and say whatever they want because they know no one will punish them, time to send a message and right this ship before it finally takes the whole program down.

I was sitting almost straight across from the CG bench and it appeared that the kid ur talking about shove a coach first before slamming his helmet and storming off the field. To my knowledge this kid is a freshman. Ohiobuckeye I agree extremely disrespectful . Couldn't imagine doing this when I played. Can you imagine what Lutz would have done ?

Well I was down for the the big bike rally on the river and took time out to watch the games. Not really impress with any team. I just didn't see any really hard hitting . Ports West look like a different team than last year and they did get after the ball. Ironton look better but than again Fairland without a few really good starters playing. Ironton wasn't playing the same team as Fairland had last year so the story is still out on them and they will kill CG this coming Friday. The Grove just don't have it or I just wanted to see a lot better than they show after reading how good some of you folks have been talking about them. SP & RH game ho hum..Ports/Chesp nothing new. A few more weeks and then you can start talking about what you really have and not what your wishing for. Good luck to everyone this year and may it be your best. A nice prayer for those that got hurt so they can get back in the game.
