the outcome of this game wont be decided until the 4th quarter and it will be less than 14 points either way! and you can take that to the bank and cash it now

Which bank? Chevy Chase Bank?

Ok. But the same things were said last year too.

The same things might have been said last year, but that was before Irontons offense became bi-polar. This year like I said earlier can go 1 of 2 ways. Ironton gets their stuff together and wins or Ironton plays like they did last year and gets crushed by the Burg.

Burg is stout. Ironton a bit better than last year but burg has chance at region again. Burg by 21.

If I-town plays like they did last year, with same type of play calling, this will be a ho-hum game. With the Tigers playing catch-up.

Ironton is going to have to have made significant gains in their line play to even think about winning this game. let alone win by 14.

Burg I think returns 4 out of their 5 lineman. The Warner kid is a beast. I do think Ironton will fight harder and be better prepared but Burg should win this game. Going with 42-21.

I think this game as most comes down to the very end. I hope the tigers are much more physical this year in this game.

my question is if ironton loses to burg this year whether its close or even half of last years margin, why is that necessarly mean a long year for ironton. its a little bit of an insult, imo, to burg, to look at it from that standpoint as wheelersburg is capable of beating every team on irontons schedule. both teams are same div. should this game be a dogfight as most of these have been in the series, i still see ironton going on to have the potential to win 6 or 8 of the games ontheir schedule. russell, amanda, raceland, ashland, portsmouth, jackson, meigs, all could still be winnable, i dont know that much about col st charles. they are a larger school and were pretty decent last year. i thought last year they were completely unprepared for the burg game, i didnt see a noticable lack of talent or size or speed they just didnt block or tackle, didnt look like they were in the right postitons, and couldnt decide if they were a T formation team or a spread team. irontons schedule is really not that much of a monster this year like it has been in years past. i just dont think they have been very well coached or prepared early in the season the last 2 years and lack of identity i think certainly has had a lot to do with it. not tackling very well , also injurys have played a big part in their lack of success. i think certainly, they should be capable of winning 6 to all 9 games on their schedule , i just dont think it will happen. i like wheelersburg by at least 2 tds. i will continue to root for them to have success but the glory years are clearly over , imo and if they make the playoffs i dont have a problem admitting i was wrong.

Victor I remember how Big Orange, God rest his soul, used to say how Ironton used to pick on the smaller Burg and then brag about beating them. Of course I know he was easing the pain of a loss but it was a true statement at the time. Not any more as Wheelersburg is now the larger of the two, not only in boys but also in girls enrollment. I don't know how long this enrollment figure will continue to decline but it will not bode well for Ironton. I think the graduation figure this year was 76 for Ironton where the same figure for example was 74 for Dawson Bryant. Ironton for years held the advantage over the Burg not only in coaching but also in enrollment. Now the playing field is starting to even out and we are going to have to play our "A" game in order to bring home a victory. It can be done as we have all of our skilled players back from last year. The only question mark I see is up front and we will see how that works out. Stay away from injuries and I think this team might just surprise a few doubters.
