Waverly Football 2014
Re: Waverly Football 2014
The weight room is one of several elements that factor in to making a team competitive. Waverlys weight room hasn't even been located at the school the last several years. The kids have had to travel or get a ride. That's not good.
We're getting new equipment and a new weight room that is located in our school building. The weight program is being added to the school curriculum so kids can lift every day during school. This will certainly help and you will begin seeing the results. Our strength and conditioning coach is as knowledgable as any around.
Our outside sports facility is getting an overhaul. Several more improvements are on the way in the near future! Definitely an exciting time to be a Tiger!

The SOC will NEVER let Jackson in their league. Wheelersburg is and will always be the only school that will play them. Waverly used to but they are dropping them after the 2014 season.

What is being done? I know the track was in very bad shape and then there is the building that seems to have been 'almost done' for a while.toast wrote:Our outside sports facility is getting an overhaul. That building that is almost done is one of the top priorities.4th n Goal wrote:What is being done? I'm hearing the Fieldhouse and Restrooms will be completed this year, in time for football. Also heard gravel will be hauled in to the grassy parking area. Turf is on the agenda and very likely to be ready to go for the 2015 season.

This news is official now. Some awesome stuff taking place this year to both the stadium and the Downtown Arena.

Nice article! It answers a lot of questions. Waverly is going to have some first class facilities for a long long time. The community will really enjoy and appreciate these improvements.

Re: Waverly Football 2014
Waverly seems to have the ingredients to start building a respectable program again. A new stadium and facilities usually breeds success. The new coaching staff seems committed to a hard-nosed style of football that is usually conductive to success.
If Waverly is going to rise up again, now is the time. The Soc will be weaker than it has in recent memory this year.

Re: Waverly Football 2014
Waverly's biggest disadvantage is the economic status of the county/city...the new school and stadium will help offset this somewhat.
Re: Waverly Football 2014
I think Waverly will be much better this year and could be real trouble for teams in the SOC.
Re: Waverly Football 2014
Tough non-league schedule which includes Jackson, Portsmouth, Court House, Chesapeake

Re: Waverly Football 2014
I got a tour of Waverly's new weight room. It's top of the line! It's obvious a lot of research and time went in to getting some of the best equipment available for the situation. They did their homework. And the aesthetics are outstanding also. The kids will get excited getting to workout in a first class facility.
This is going to be a real benefit for the students and help them be more successful in any sport they participate. Waverly has had some nice success recently in several sports…..and this will only help them be even more successful in the future.

They had players to cause trouble for the SOC last year too, but they were too banged up from the first part of their schedule. Especially Gilbert, who was one of the best athletes in the SOC, but he was the only person reasonably healthy most of the year and everyone knew he was the only threat.game day wrote:I think Waverly will be much better this year and could be real trouble for teams in the SOC.
Re: Waverly Football 2014
eagles73, by no means did I neglect or overlook Piketon. That is a HUGE County rivalry that everyone expects to be anyone's game. I was just pointing out the other ones, especially the additions.
Re: Waverly Football 2014
Best receiver went down early last year and as was mentioned, Amin was banged up.
The line looks to be massive this year and I hear a couple kids are receiving D1 looks. Toledo was down this week.
