2014 River Valley Raiders Schedule (First year in the TVC)
Re: 2014 River Valley Raiders Schedule (First year in the TV
Thanks Raider, I'm actually surprised they were that competitive early on. Other than Athens I didn't think they would've won any.

I believer the only SEOAL school that River Valley did not beat at one time or another was Jackson while in the league.

The last 4 times Chesapeake has played VC, they've won a whopping, twice. That's lopsided for sure.Dundas wrote:Prince if darkness.. the last time those elite basketball players from Chesapeake played VC, they lost. Ill check out the records later today just to prove your statement completely bogus.
As for River Valleys schedule next year.. its way to early to put a number down as to how many games I think they'll win, but just glancing over the schedule, (and if RV improves some from last season) I think there are 4-6 games they could compete in and possibly win. Not saying they will win all of those..but if they improve and stay healthy, they could be competitive at least. And that's a step in the right direction.

IMO river valley will do very well in TVC ohio. Should compete right away with most teams

How does this prove my statement bogus? I specifically stated "MOST" years Chesapeake blows Vinton County out by 20 plus, and I stand by that. I just checked maxpreps, and it looks like the last time Chesapeake and Vinton County played was the 06/07 season. Congratulations, Vinton County won the game by one that year. Chesapeake also lost to River Valley that season.Dundas wrote:Prince if darkness.. the last time those elite basketball players from Chesapeake played VC, they lost. Are you unnaware of what VC has done over the last 10-15 years on the basketball court? Had they played every season in that time span, Chesapeake would be lucky to have gone .500. I don't know how many wins Chesapeake has since 2003 but I'd bet its less than VC. Look up some facts before you spout off a statement like that. No one beats VC by 20+ "most" years in Southeast Ohio.Prince of Darkness wrote:How does this prove my statement bogus? I am very aware of Vinton County's success the last 10-15 years, and Chesapeake has been better over that same time span while playing better competition. Don't get so defensive. Vinton County has a great basketball program, but they are not as good as Chesapeake most years. Vinton County hasn't won anything outside the TVC.Dundas wrote:Are you unnaware of what VC has done over the last 10-15 years on the basketball court? Vikings are a very respectable program Dundas but historically Chesapeake is better .

Historically yes. But I'm referring to the last 10-12 years. Chesapeake would be lucky to go .500 against VC in that span and if you believe otherwise, you're lying to yourself.Viking96 wrote:Vikings are a very respectable program Dundas but historically Chesapeake is better .

Maybe Beasts of the Southeast next year......Dundas wrote:Historically yes. But I'm referring to the last 10-12 years. I feel bad for taking over this thread that belongs to River Valley so this is the last ill post off topic. I'd love to see VC and Chesapeake play yearly on the hardwood. If it weren't for that terrible drive down 93, I think they would play more often. And it would be a heck of a series.Tubby wrote:Maybe Beasts of the Southeast next year......Dundas wrote:Historically yes. But I'm referring to the last 10-12 years. RV's drop in competitiveness in the SEOAL coincided with the de-consolidation that birthed SOuth Gallia, didn't it?
To go from being competitively sized to being one of the smaller schools in the SEOAL probably didn't help things.

Yes I agee. VC has alway been good and played hard defense during the Combs era. Then some years there were really good and could play with anyone south of Columbus.

RV has played Meigs every year since opening if I'm not mistaken. How many times have they beat Meigs in those 20 or so years?
less than 5

Re: 2014 River Valley Raiders Schedule (First year in the TV
River Valley had the opportunity to join the TVC back when the school first came into existence. Instead, they opted for the SEOAL. The end result is over two decades of wondering through the wilderness with no true rivalry, bouncing from SEOAL to OVC to TVC.
Had River Valley joined the TVC when the school first formed instead of thumbing its nose and joining the SEOAL, the Raiders could have found an identity and developed some rivalries by now.

That is a great point. The seoal isn't for everyone .NYBuckeye96 wrote:River Valley had the opportunity to join the TVC back when the school first came into existence.
