Probably smart by Warren to stay put. The ECOL would eat them alive, with maybe a win over Marietta annually. They would not be favored in many of the small school match ups either. The OVAC sucks as a league. The SEOAL still goes on. The biggest or the best in SEO will continue to avoid the best SEO league.

You can see schools are afraid to join the SEOAL. Them saying why join a league that is domed ...but is really they are running away.

Can you even have a league with three teams? Next year, will there be SEOAL Championships with only 3 schools? If each school goes 1-1 in conference play, every team in the league would be co-champions.

With Warren remaining in the SEOAL as a primary conference, and the OVAC as a secondary conference, it looks like Gallia Academy is planning to be an associate member in the SEOAL for boys Soccer, boys and girls Tennis, and maybe Wrestling starting in 2017 when Gallia leaves for the OVC. The SEOAL also plans to look into possibly finding other associate members for various sports. Athens will remain an associate member for boys and girls soccer and for boys and girls tennis along with Alexander for boys and girls Soccer.

3 JHS sports to still play for ‘SEOAL’

From reading that article, it appears the SEOAL will "exist" as a three sport-affiliate conference - boys soccer, girls soccer, and boys tennis - and will exist thanks to affiliate members from the TVC (Athens, Alexander) and OVC (Gallia Academy). For all other sports, including football, this school year will be the final year for SEOAL competition.

The article title even put quotes around SEOAL - 3 JHS sports to still play for ‘SEOAL’

So I guess that means Jackson, Logan and Warren are officially Independents in 2016, but sport-affiliate members of the SEOAL in boys soccer, girls soccer and boys tennis.

Boys Soccer Affiliate Members:
Alexander (Primary Conference: TVC)
Athens (Primary Conference: TVC)
Gallia Academy (Primary Conference: OVC)
Jackson (Primary Conference: Independent)
Logan (Primary Conference: Independent)
Warren (Primary Conference: Independent/OVAC)

Girls Soccer Affiliate Members:
Alexander (Primary Conference: TVC)
Athens (Primary Conference: TVC)
Jackson (Primary Conference: Independent)
Logan (Primary Conference: Independent)
Warren (Primary Conference: Independent/OVAC)

Boys Tennis Affiliate Members:
Athens (Primary Conference: TVC)
Gallia Academy (Primary Conference: OVC)
Jackson (Primary Conference: Independent)
Logan (Primary Conference: Independent)

The 3 team Steel Valley League existed for a decade after Boardman and Austintown Fitch left for the Canton area Federal League. Warren Harding, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Youngstown Ursuline continued to play for the title. Its a matter for the teams to decide. Too much tradition in the Mahoning Valley and competitve communities wouldn't give it up. Finally Warren Harding was accepted in the Cleveland area Lake Erie League before Mentor ran from that league. Eventually Harding left to join the Youngstown -Warren area All American Conference where they rejoined Boardman and Fitch ( and Ashtabula Lakeside) in D-I division. The AAC did not accept Mooney or Ursuline as members. ( lol).

Three teams isn't great, but doable.
