Re: Conference for Logan
I would be surprised if the Chieftains are looking anywhere but North for a league . Some good fits but have not heard any word going forward.

They got their shot in why they could, on one of the youngest/way down Logan teams there ever has been. Would love to see what would happen this year on the info I'm getting about the maturing Chiefs.

So let me get this right raider.....What your saying is the DII playoff teams are so weak that Athens and Nelsontucky sleep walk there way to state titles year in and out?

Two of the three wouldn't be bad. Of the three preferably the MSL.

Anyone that says Athens is a good fit for the TVC would have to agree Logan is a good fit for the MSL.

This is a garbage thread. Only exists to throw bricks at Logan. It's a large (population) school in an ocean of smaller schools. It's a geography problem, not a school problem.

Re: Conference for Logan
They only throw brick at Logan because we have beat them and now we are down some. Southeastern Ohio is becoming one great big slum. No jobs, people moving away, so many things being torn down. The percentage of people that moved away don't even come back to visit. Logan is a place, that is close enough to Lancaster and the Columbus area, where they can travel to work and not be that much of a problem. Logan will be fine without SEO. Logan High School will be here in 10 to 20 years where some SEO school will not.

Re: Conference for Logan
I would bet consolidation is coming to some of them in the coming years. Trimble/Nelsonville Miller, Athens/Fed Hock. Even some of the other countries with multiple small high schools. If that does ever come to fruition, it will be funny to watch some of them having to travel much much longer distances just to play schools they're size just to get playoff pts.

Re: Conference for Logan
Athens is the only stable school in seo. By far the richest in SEO. Athens is already maxed out. Athens actually gets more local tax than Bexley for it's school. If we could get OU to sell it's east State Street property, that would be an extra 1-2 million since ou doesn't pay taxes.1987chieftains wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2017 11:46 am I would bet consolidation is coming to some of them in the coming years. Athens state funding 20%
Warren and Logan 70
But Miller, NY, and Trimble need to consolidate.
Federal Hocking would get absorbed but a bunch of different schools. Washington county needs to consolidate different schools. Meigs county just needs one school

Those three definitely. You can drive by all three NY, Miller & Trimble in about 20 mins.

The state experimented with Hocking, Morgan, and Vinton county. I don't think they like big rural schools

For the most part it pretty much sucks. Being a one county school.

My oldest boy had to spend one and a half to two hours on the bus of the morning. Lived 15 minutes from school but to travel and pick other up kids was a bummer for him. Now.. after school he would be home within 20 minutes. A lot of bus riding in the southwest part of the country.1987chieftains wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2017 2:07 pm For the most part it pretty much sucks. Re: Conference for Logan
If Nelsonville-York, Trimble and Miller consolidated.........
NY 135 boys, 136 girls
Trimble 95 boys, 86 girls
Miller 82 boys, 74 girls
Consolidated totals: 312 boys, 296 girls. This would be comparable to Athens at 318 boys, 304 girls.
If we are strictly going off of distance to school, NY is only a few miles north of The Plains and Athens High School.......
NY 135 boys, 136 girls
Athens 318 boys, 304 girls
Consolidated totals: 453 boys, 440 girls. This would be slightly closer to Logan at 500 boys, 499 girls.

Re: Conference for Logan
If those three would consolidate you but see Atown leave real quick.
They wanted into a league where they could win and at their size they haven't been doing it....So they surely wouldn't stay if consolidation happened.

Maybe Trimble and NY could consolidate. Miller would be split between New Lex and CrooksvilleNYBuckeye96 wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2017 5:28 pm If Nelsonville-York, Trimble and Miller consolidated.........
