Adena reached out to Monroeville. . Notre Dame turned Adena down and is now playing Monroeville. Elgin game will be a forfeit since they played week 1 and more than likely playing week 3 and beyond. Don’t understand if you still have 18 players you don’t want to play the game

There is no such thing as “you played week one, won’t play week 2 but may play later, so you forfeit week 2.” The OHSAA does not recognize a game that never started as a forfeit. It’s a “no contest.”

They’re wrong. There’s no such thing as a victory awarded for a game that won’t be played. Game doesn’t exist, therefore no awarded winner nor loser.

From OHSAA Football regulations 2019:

1.7) NO CONTEST/FORFEIT
Teams are expected to play all games not begun on the earliest potential makeup date.
If a game is not played on the scheduled date and the schools are unable to agree to
a mutually convenient makeup date, the Executive Director’s office will determine
whether the date is treated as a “no-contest” or forfeiture, taking into consideration the
reason for cancelling the scheduled contest and the rationale used by the schools in their
efforts to re-schedule the contest.

Coal Grove crushed Trimble in the only game of a 2 year contract.

2010 Coal Grove 49 Trimble 12

2011 was the forfeit

I can’t say about the “crying” but when you schedule a game, you’re expected to play the game. Coal Grove missed no other games that season and no other team had a problem playing. So it should’ve been a forfeit.

Coal Grove is the village. The Dawson Bryant is the school name, but the athletic programs use Coal Grove


It was meningitis actually. And it was declared a forfeit because both of the parties decided to reschedule and play the game on a Monday in October and Trimble later decided they didn’t want to.
