Quarterback ,Fullback, and halfback are all on crutches ,several other starters injured. tough year for several seniors.

Parker with a huge game. Eric Purdy with a nice gme at WR too. Rock Hill was better than expected, ran it right down Portsmouth’s throat. That being said, Portsmouth’s defense was BAD. Have to improve on stopping the run. 4-0 for the first time since 02 I believe. Huge game next week at Gallia.

What’s up with Portsmouth and defense? They seem to always have an offense but forget the defense for many years now!!PTrojan59 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 10:24 pm Parker with a huge game. Not really sure, I would say a combination of several things. One being with low numbers, you have kids playing both ways. Now that’s not a good excuse, tons of teams have that same problem and manage just fine. I feel like Portsmouth is usually undersized on the defensive line as well. Another factor every year for Portsmouth just seems to be bad tackling. I’ve noticed improvements over the last several seasons, under Aaron Duncan and now Bruce Kalb, still not where it should be though. They always seems to tackle high and don’t wrap up. I also just don’t think they have that mean streak or edge about them, they aren’t very physical, that along with the above mentioned just make for a long night when teams pound it up the middle play after play.

I agree with you. When I watched them they all hit high and took a ride or bounced off

Good game Trojans. The first half was rough. We lost ty Pendleton one of if not our best defensive player after 1 series. Hopefully nothing serious. But no run defense what so ever. Rock hill ran it on the right side behind number 74 all night. Offense struggled at first but Parker had a really good night. Not sure his numbers. Defense has to tackle better. Looked like they wanted to strip the ball and tackle high. Big task coming up at Gallia. Defense HAS to do better or it may be a long night.

Good read and a lot of truth
Re: Week 4 (3-0) Portsmouth @ (0-3) Rock Hill
The Trojans' defensive line this year is undersized, especially compared to Rock Hill's O-Line. Rock Hill has some pretty big linemen and I think they aren't given as much credit as they should be getting. These two factors combined didn't make a very good first half for the Trojans' Defense. I think the trojans learned a lot from this game and I'm sure the coaches will be tweaking a few things to get ready for Gallia. Gallia hs a really good line and the Trojans' defense is really going to have to step up.14U wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:10 amWhat’s up with Portsmouth and defense?
