Transfers:
Re: Transfers:
Transfers happen for about a dozen different reasons. It 100% falls in the parents. Not the kid, school, coach etc.
The most alarming transferring to me is when a school has no program history of being good, school district has bad state report card and the per capita income is s low as anywhere in the state, yet several have transferred there for basketball.

So Jackson, Ironton, and Wheelersburg can recruit but New Boston can’t?Ed Ott wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 12:50 pm Transfers happen for about a dozen different reasons. It 100% falls in the parents. Not the kid, school, coach etc.

Re: Transfers:
Burg is great at most sports, some of the higher test scores and a nice little area where people might actually want to relocate. Ironton has a history as a football power and look to have it back going. Jackson has great facilities, very good football program (basketball gaining some steam too) and one of the higher ranked districts in the district, decent little city. All those things listed are reason for relocating. It’s opposite that school is getting transfers.Raider6309 wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 7:30 pmSo Jackson, Ironton, and Wheelersburg can recruit but New Boston can’t?Ed Ott wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 12:50 pm Transfers happen for about a dozen different reasons. Re: Transfers:
Transfers are pretty common now. My son will never transfer. In 2 of his 3 sports kids have moved in and put in front of him (because they are better)....he will play the role the coach has set and he can always choose to get better of course. We cheer on the kids that have moved in and I expect that in return from those that have moved in. Come to Jackson if you please, but buy the fan gear and root on all the players, that’s all I ask.
Re: Transfers:
Very good thoughtful post. A lot of people will never ever look at it that way though, but everyone has a right as to there opinion.

If you change your mind I know a place with a pretty good distance program.Ironman92 wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 11:00 pm Transfers are pretty common now. My son will never transfer. How many years is the Jackson / Athens contract
Re: Transfers:
Excellent! My son has yet to complain about his playing time but the "practice/work more and get better" speech is already loaded for such a time...lol Excellent postIronman92 wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 11:00 pm Transfers are pretty common now.
