2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Re: Gallia Academy 2021
Gallia Is no different then a lot of schools. Look at the past decade. to really strong teams 2012 and 2018. I would say the 2010 and 2011 teams may of been more talented then the 2012 team. But their were several players who were more interested in their goals and wants then the team. 2012 team the kids really did not care they just wanted to win they were willing to maybe change positions and just do what was needed. 2013 thru 2016 there were many talented kids and plenty of talent their was also kind of a shadow over the program but those teams all had one thing in common there were a lot of kids that were just worried about themselves. I feel that i say this as a parent that had a kid on some of those teams and my son and some of the kids i know will tell you now that was part of their problem.
2017 they had to learn how to win again and 2018 there was another group that just wanted to win no matter who got the ball the tackle or the glory. That was far from the worlds most talented team but they all bought in to the same page.
2019 those kids just were not hungry enough sort of rested on what they did the year before. I don't want to judge last years kids. It was not easy to build chemistry and some of the things this team relies on to be special. there was some of the best talent that this school has had in a decade but it was like puzzle pieces from different puzzles and the pieces really just didnt fit together to get the most out of it.
I have no idea what 2021 will bring hopefully we get back to playing blue devil football.

Several from last years staff retired or resigned. Coach Penrod is still the head man though and reloading his staff.

Since Covid ruined the 2020 Blue Devil season for me, I have lost track of the players and ones coming up. Can anyone that is in the know post their feelings about how the team will look this season?
I am excited about the prospect of returning to Memorial Field for some games this fall.

Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Excited for the season as well and to have Memorial Field full of fans. I think this years team will be young but extremely capable of winning at least 8/9 games. Provided that the talent they have is utilized and utilized in the correct positions. The incoming sophs/juniors are 4-1 against the Ironton class of of sophs/juniors, but we have been playing with the kids within our district and not a bunch of transfers. Is what is, should be an exciting season and some high scoring.GalliaGrad78 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 6:32 am Since Covid ruined the 2020 Blue Devil season for me, I have lost track of the players and ones coming up. Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
The question is will the kids play to potential at the position and the part they are asked to play. Not what they want to play or Daddy wants them to play. If they want to win more then they want to be the main man they will do very well.MR305 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 8:01 amExcited for the season as well and to have Memorial Field full of fans. Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Not daddy again !!! LOL some daddy's been around for years that's just a part of GA .
Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Yes but if you look at 2012 and 2018. There were a bunch of very happy daddy's but a lot of very happy and excellent football teams. Because they put the team first. In 2012 there was even a big show down with a parent in a locker room because a parent wasn't happy. That is why even though coach Eddy was very successful here. Some people were not happy because he really didn't care what Daddy's thought.
They have a lot of talent coming through right now. a problem is going to be there re several that are good at the very same thing and some people aren't going to get to play where they want or get the touches they think they deserve. If they worry more about being a good team then what position they play they can be very very good. if not they will just be decent.
Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Eddy was gone not long after that over something that happen at the golf course to raise money for the team ??? Could be wrong ?
Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Nice article about Isaac Clary in the Huntington paper today !!!
Re: 2021 GALLIA ACADEMY BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL
Anything that would of happened at golf course would of happened before the 2012 season. Because coach Eddy coached that year. Then he had a meeting at end of year that he would be back because rumors were flying that he would not be back. A few weeks later a family situation popped up that he thought he neeeded to be closer to parkersburg and left. And every week through that year there were people not happy. But had nothing to do with the kids or football it had to do with not cuddling parents. I had a misunderstanding with coach Eddy as a parent. He thought i was there to talk to him about my son and football. But i was there about something else. He ran me out of locker room in about 10 seconds after we were outside he realized that is not why i was there and he apologized and we laughed. At the end of season and off season it was great we could talk football and we would talk about my son and things he needed to improve on. Come august 1st. He wasn't interested in really talking to any parent about anything. i mean he would be polite but football season was all business. I liked that a lot of people were very offended by it.
Coach Penrod very much the same but a little more polite about it.
