This game last year was close for a bit and Waverly was able to pull away in the 2nd half. Pica made a couple big runs in that game, looks like Minford's offense is a bit different this year though as they're doing much more read options and utilizing the legs of Caudill. Offensively we've got to just continue to improve along the line and get more and more of our playmakers involved. Defensively we've got to keep improving but there's still some guys finding holes in the secondary against us. Our defensive scheme is also exposing 1 side of the defensive line as it's happened all year but West capitalized with a big play and even OH was able to get some runs with it. As they're overloading the formation to one side and as we shift it's leaving the backside with even numbers or a man down as teams run at that side of our DL. This is a scheme issue and needs to be addressed immediately as it's pretty obvious teams have discovered how to out number us with just a formation setup.
Film alone should reveal that formation/scheme issue. Minford will exploit this if not corrected.
I don't know if you can count on the Minford offense scheming anything to be honest.

I don't see this game being close. I like Waverly by 2+ scores

After watching the Portsmouth West/Minford game, I would have to give the nod to the Tigers over the Falcons. Hope that both teams have an injury free game.

I would have taken the Tigers over the Falcons, but I would not have thought that it would have been by that margin.

Waverly dominated from the start. They came out ready to play on both sides of the ball, a great complete game. Other than the one scoring drive Minford couldn’t get much going offensively, seemed like their biggest plays came from the QB draw/scramble. They had a nice screen call on 3rd down that countered Waverly’s blitz which they seemed to do every 3rd down situation and majority of the time it worked out. The secondary had a great game for Waverly as well. Offensively for Waverly they were running the ball with ease and had some good completions.

Minford has a lot of work to do, I’m not sure what the answer is for them but hopefully they improve these last few weeks of the season. The QB is quick and has a decent arm, he could be very good his last two years if they can figure it out.

For Waverly, they have gotten back on track after the heartbreaking West loss. They have good momentum going into next week, they will need all of it and some if they wanna get a win on the road against Wheelersburg.

Plenty for the Tigers to work on for next week. The 3rd quarter was sleep walking (after 26-0 first half). Should have been a running clock and getting some back ups in but Waverly's offense took the 3rd quarter off. Of course, Waverly was missing their #1 WR so that did make a difference.
Jase Hurd with over 300 yards rushing and over 1,000 on the year.

The Minford 3rd down screens were obvious but they worked every time for some reason - that must be fixed... Tiger Defense was also missing a starting DE.

All in all it's a comfortable win and everybody healthy for next week.

I'll be honest not having our WR didn't make a difference tonight, Minford was playing back and wasn't going to give up the deep ball this notion that we have only 1 guy who can get deep is insane you haven't seen it because we haven't had to do it. Not going to allow anyone to take away from the plays made tonight because they think missing 1 was the root cause as that simply wasn't the case. What'd we have close to 500 yards, yeah think we were just fine. This was one of the most complete offensive games because we were hitting other throws, we were running double tight, double RBs, swing routes the offense as a whole in terms of play calling and overall execution was on par tonight, yeah we didn't score right out the half sorry we got talked 1/2 yard short on 4th down at the Minford 20 or so. It took them 7 minutes to score because the defense was stingy and played yet another great game. AWESOME team win

I'm with you, Minford has had a lot of talented athletes come through there system and they've been wasted and we're looking at it yet again. At some point you'd think someone would stand up and decide it's time for a coaching change.

Well I don’t think the missing players last night would have made a huge difference if they played. There wasn’t really a ton of opportunities to take deep shots nor any reason to. The running game was working and the other WRs played well for what they were asked to do. Personally I would rather see them lean on the run game if it is working and let Hurd be the works horse as much as he can handle, Smith is a solid backup that can take some off Hurd if need be. Idk what the ratio was for run/pass plays but it seemed like it was lopsided with run plays, which I believe is how this offense should operate if the defense will allow it.

Everyone who was asked to step up and get more playing time for the missing players did a great job. This could be something they are asked to do as the season continues so they will need to keep stepping up and answer the call.

I totally agree we need to lean more to the running game, but I was talking more about things to work on for next week at Wheelersburg. Not having the WR in question did absolutely change the play calling - that's not taking away from what the players did last night. The ratio last night was where I'd love to see - probably 3 to 1 runs with Hurd and Smith.
