Re: Ironton v Harvest Prep
I'm giving the edge to Ironton. I think Ironton has the better qb, and I think Ironton has the better defense. Ironton is gonna have to try to play clean but idk. When you have a deep team just being deep isn't an asset if you don't utilize your depth in a manner that gains you some continuity. Some chemistry. The defense is miles ahead to that respect for Ironton. Offense still unsure and inconsistent. I'm thinking Ironton puts the better game together Friday. We shall see.

Ironton has been so so vs the run. Midland killed em.
Gallia had a Lotta success.
Portsmouth had more success vs Ironton than they did burg.
Heath had some success too and killed a lot of it with mistakes.
Irontons defense is gonna be tested and that's why it's important for the offense to carry their weight Friday night. If Irontons offense leaves their defense stranded on the field for too long, it could become a problem pretty fast.

They did the annual playoff team picture 2 weeks ago and from the picture I counted 59 kids. Ironton is lead in numbers by the Junior class with roughly 25 kids

Do they dress Freshmen for Home Playoff Games? Because there wasn’t close to that number on the sidelines last night. Heath had way more kids than Ironton
Re: Ironton v Harvest Prep
If Ironton can't get out of their own way, it'll be bball season. Talented they may be but overcoming dumb mistakes not so much

Also the amount of parking directly at the stadium is fantastic. Sadly Valley never hosts neutral site playoff games. I’ve always been told the reason they don’t is because their stadium doesn’t have a fence around the field. Another reason I’ve heard is they don’t have enough people to do everything that comes with hosting a big playoff game.

If freshmen make the playoff bench list, they get counted for competitive balance purposes. Otherwise, a freshman would have to play in a varsity game to count.

Yeah, that’s not how competitive balance works. If they are on the team, they count.

Actually, I’m wrong. I forgot about the change to the count rule.

HP 26-21 I look for penalties, and poor execution to cost Ironton the win.

So you are saying Ironton doesn’t dress freshmen because they would count against the Competitive Balance Number if they do??
Don’t they already go to the school so they would count? Is that next year’s number? Does the same thing count if they dress a regular season game?

It may be just me but the three penalties they keep flaging Ironton for are illegal prcedure. Block in the back and holding on the sweeps. Terry has had 3 TDd called back for a block in the back. The one I did see was 20 yards behind the runner. Is the procedure call caused by the center or by lineman. If the center snaps is slow lineman could jump early. Who is holding on the sweeps. Is it the wideouts. Seems like these penalties could be easily corrected. Film would give you the answer to all of these. If you get these corrected chances are you move on if not get out the basketballs.

Re: Ironton v Harvest Prep
Ironton reminds me of the Archbishop Carrol team Ironton beat several years ago 19-14...Archbishop was nationally ranked and more talented than Ironton however they were very undisciplined like this Ironton team.... Last 3 or 4 years its same thing. Penalties...After every game it's said were going to address this problem...Not going to happen.... would have already taken place...There is no way they make a run unless coaching starts benching kids for some of these penalties....Some of these penalties are ridiculous. over and over again... Harvest Prep will win easily if Ironton plays like they have....This problem could have and should have been stopped 2 years ago.... You can get by with it playing OVC schedule with less talent...I hope they win but i don't see it happening unless the Coaches stop it....

Linemen are slow = holding penalties, block in back. The linemen have been slow and lack discipline unfortunately.RiverRatRay wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:20 am It may be just me but the three penalties they keep flaging Ironton for are illegal prcedure.
