Coaches at Burg expect the team to be better this year, for what it’s worth.

Burg’s junior class is really talented with many playing as sophomores last year. They may not match up well with this year’s IHS team, but this is not a bad Burg team in 2024. They’ll have an experienced QB, some good receivers and backs, and a good OL.
No excuses
That was a brilliant comment. Thanks for adding absolutely nothing to the conversation. 🤦‍♂️
I learned that from Burg posters

Why just ask any burg fans on here. They will tell you. Burg has superior coaching. Superior culture. Superior academics and a significantly greater enrollment.

No excuses.

Return Heiland who I think will even better this year than last year. Most of the OL returns, young at QB but expect them to throw the ball even better. Few new kids moved in, few freshmen I think might see some minutes. I’d have Portsmouth above Fairland without a doubt. They should’ve beat Fairland in the regular season, knocked Fairland out of the playoffs, and Fairland lost some key pieces. Not much thought and analysis in this article imo. Just basing it off of last years record is silly.
Could this seasons Trojans give this seasons Wheelersburg some issues? Hypothetically?
Burg would be a massive favorite in that game.
As they should be I would think. But how distant are they for real THIS season?

The coaches think this year’s team will be better than last. Not sure their reasoning but I believe that’s due to higher expectations on the O side of the ball. Maybe other Burg fans can chime in on this.

If Rucker takes a step up in his game this year, Burg will have a good team. Unfortunately, HP has their number and Ironton has a large senior class with lots of talent. Burg will be the underdog against those teams. Could pull an upset but would need a lot to go right.

I believe Burg is a year off from having a shot at the region.

Agree, it’s all chatter until it’s shown on the field. That goes for any team. Also of course the coaches are going to say that lol, what coach is going to say yeah we are far worse this year boys.

This thread is about R19 in 2024, so of course all discussion is speculative at this point. Should we not be discussing the upcoming year since all said is just “chatter?”

Btw, my statement was based on what I was told in December, not something I heard said in the locker room. Now of course Ironton should be much better this year as well which doesn’t bode well for Burg.

Warning: the comments above are not based on what has occurred on the field in 2024. Actual results may differ significantly from what has been posted. Reader discretion is advised. :)

Until we both see it, it’s just chatter. 5-5 for Burg, 6-4 maybe. Do you like my chatter baby boy?

You keep saying stuff about the whole thread as if I’m opposed to anyone chatting about the upcoming season. Chatter, noise, rumors it’s all the same. Until actual football gets played nobody knows what exactly is going to happen, that’s why we are here. Chatting, you think they’ll go better than 6-4, I do not. Once again I never said you, or anyone else has to refrain from your chatter. I’ll add to your chatter, Ironton beats Burg by 20+ this year. I will not bet you, because 1. I am not wagering money on high school football 2. Burg could be better, I don’t think so but they could as they usually produce a winning season. No nerves were touched except yours boo thang.

That’s how they win without D1 recruits. All of the above is why the Burg program has the fourth highest winning percentage in the state.
But... they haven't been winning. Ironton and Prep have owned them and so has Jackson. And again, burg as a program has only made it outta their region 3 times in bout 3 decades. Aside from 2017, burg football has been fairly mediocre. And over about the last 5 seasons they have struggled vs the better reg season opponents. So something in that list of ingredients has fell off. Coaching? Culture? Talent?

Whats hot is whats hot. Go start a waverly or a rock hill thread and see how hot it gets. Ironton and Burg are basically the hottest topics every season and off season in seo football land. Is what it is. Matter fact a Kirtland or Harvest Prep thread would get MORE traffic on here than any other seo program besides Ironton or Burg.

And the reason people are "leaving this site" if they even are ( wheres your numbers/evidence?) is because this site is obsolete tech wise and doesnt appeal to enough younger users to replace the mostly older majority that eventually gets too old and stops using the site or being active on it.

Sadly, I have to agree with Tri_state, or whatever name he is using today.

Last year, there was a post about Burg coaching that got more posts from Jackson fans than posts specifically about Jackson football. Same is true with any threads about Ironton.

Meigs was probably third to the big two just a year or so ago. But having a D1 coach will do that for you.

I know, I was D1 fellas
